Why is he acting like this so suddenly? You asked yourself. For the past 3 weeks your boyfriend Nick has been acting all kinds of strange and suspicion lately. He hardly talks to you. Barely acknowledges your existence, and not wanting to hang out much either. Every time you'd ask it'd be some dumb excuse like, "I have to do laundry", "I'm too tired", "I've got errands to run" soon you just started to give up. Give on him. Give up on "us." There was no spark anymore. But one day, you decided to be bold, you were going to get to the bottom of whatever he was doing, and you were going to find out why he's been so indifferent lately.
You grabbed your coat, keys, shoes, and your umbrella, and you set off out the door in the pouring rain.
You pulled up to nicks house, taking out the spare key he had given you. You put the key in the lock and twisted. The thing you saw next broke your heart into millions of pieces.
There sat Nick and your best friend Charlotte. How could she? You thought, how could you do that to your BESTRIEND? They key dropped from your already balling fists as your focus was completely on the two of them.
As soon as the key hit the ground, both their heads turned to you in sheer horror. Their jaws dropped, and Nick got up to grab you but before he could you took a step back, heaving in a strong breath.
"You douche bag! How could you do such a thing, do I mean nothing to you, does the word "us" mean nothing to you! I can't believe I wasted 3 years with you. I absolutely can not believe it!"
"And Charlotte? How could you? We were supposed to be best friends, and you go and do this to me. What kind of friend are you? I'll tell you what kind of friend you are, a real shitty one. To think, I thought you two would be with me forever. I guess I was completely wrong."
You took the key from off the floor, and you slammed your hand on nicks chest letting the key go.
You walked out the door, and walked back to your car. You couldn't tell if it was rain drenching your face, or tears, or both. Probably both.
You entered your car and slammed the door shut, leaning up against the steering wheel, you think about all the three of you have been through. And look how everything, just like your heart, is now shattered.
Driving carefully through the rain, you could hear your phone buzzing a thousand times per minute, with texts and calls from both Charlotte and Nick. But you ignored them.
Nick even tried coming to your house a couple times but you didn't answer the door, so did Charlotte, but you never answer them anymore. You've moved on.
And so should they.
