Epilogue ― Promise
Three years later…
“This time you won’t eat my cupcakes,” Moni warns me, glaring daggers at me. I chuckle as I keep staring at Mila’s cupcakes.
Who would blame me, though? Those cupcakes are delicious and there’s a reason why Moni is obsessed with them. And there’s also a reason why, even though I know they are delicious, I won’t eat the last one. I learnt my lesson long time ago and she is scary when you eat her cupcakes. She called dibs on them this time, in front of everyone.
Ed approaches and wraps his arm around her shoulders, chuckling at the way she is staring at me murderously. “Babe, you need to share,” he tells her and Moni hisses, like her cat Molly when you approach.
“Cupcakes,” she sounds creepy. “Mine.” Ed only laughs and I sigh. Goodbye, cupcakes.
“It’s okay, I’ll make you muffins,” a feminine voice says and I turn immediately, just to see Alex walking up to me, her smile warm and lovely, just as her.
Don’t tell her I said that.
My girlfriend stops in front of me and I wrap an arm around her waist, pulling her closer. Only then, I look over my shoulder at Moni. “You can have the cupcakes, I have Alex’s muffins.”
Moni actually pouts, making her boyfriend laugh even harder. We all know Alex’s muffins are made in heaven and she will make some only for me. Who’s a lucky leprechaun? That’s right, I am.
“By the way,” Alex adds. “Everyone is waiting for us. The bonfire is ready and Harry is hungry.”
We nod and Ed and Moni are the first to leave the kitchen, and she makes sure to take the cupcakes with her. Alex and I follow them.
We’re all in Harry’s family’s bungalow, and when I say all, I really mean all. Zayn and Mila, Harry and Hannah, Phebs and Lucas, Belle and Dan, Louis and Kay, Liam and Tammy and of course us, Moni and Ed, Alex and I. The only one missing is Savannah, but that’s because she is in America at the Vid-Con. She picked Dan Howell over us. She also said there were too many couples and the bungalow was too crowded. She is right, there are not enough rooms, but we manage. We’ve been wanting to do this for a long, long time. We finally have time to be all together. It’s hard when you have three international artists slash bands in your group of friends. Ed Sheeran, One Direction and Prodigy. We have busy lives.
It’s great to come here where no one else exists, when it’s only us just being all together, having fun. Kay is determined to win at having shots of tequila and Louis is trying to keep up. Kay has higher alcohol tolerance than I, and she is not Irish. I really wanna see what show those two will put up once they are really drunk.
Zayn and Mila are right now seriously discussing about a book they read. I think they disagree on something that happened, Zayn believes it’s because the villain was just plain mean and bloodthirsty, but Mila says it’s more complex. I can’t understand more than that and I’m not even going to try.
Belle, Dan, Phebs and Lucas are taking care of the BBQ while Hannah and Harry are playing with my guitar. Tammy is on Liam’s lap and next to them are Moni and Ed, just talking and laughing.
“We’re a big group,” Alex says next to me as I keep appreciating our group of friends.
She’s right, we’re a big group. We don’t always spend time together and it’s not like we’re all the best friends. Tammy is really busy with her band as they have become bigger than One Direction now, so when she has free time, she rather spends it with Liam alone. She can hang out with us, but she is never that comfortable. She is not good with people and she tries to be nice, but she’s too used to be rude. We accepted that already. When Tammy is around, we know her black humour is included. Harry and Hannah don’t spend that much time with the big group either, they are too hipster for us. Yes, Harry has dragged Hannah in his alternative world. Kay and Louis hang a lot with Alex and I, as these two girls got really close since Kay made the documentary for the Where We Are Tour DVD. We always have loads of fun. Belle and Phebs have a world apart too with their boyfriends. Mila and Moni are always working on the books of the first, as now her best friend is her editor. Ed is Ed, he is busy as well and when he can, he spends time with Moni. Zayn always tries to spend time with Mila as well. They keep disappearing when we have breaks.
