'It's been a week since Jared came to school.' Olivia thought.
The past week had been quite hectic for her, with assignments due and her project which she was yet to complete, due the next week. She was so busy, buried in her work, that she had failed to notice other human beings in her life.
Until that day, a week later, when she realized she hadn't seen or heard from Jared for an entire week.
A small wave of worry overtook her and she decided to ask Kate. Although she disliked Kate, she knew that Kate would probably know Jared's whereabouts.
She walked upto Kate and said, "Do you, by any chance, know where Jared has been for the past week?"
Kate just snorted and said, "Is little miss perfect actually asking me for help?"
"Kate please this isn't the time for this petty drama just tell me if you know anything about him" Olivia replied, gritting her teeth.
"It's funny, I thought you both had this weird friendship thing going on, how come he never told you?" Kate replied with a smirk.
"Told me what?" Olivia asked, ignoring Kate's comment on their friendship.
Olivia hadn't expected her friendship with Jared to be as strained as it was. She understood the gap of four years affected it but she expected it to be easier to overcome. Even then, she knew that Kate was the last person on the planet to understand their friendship or comment on it.
"He's at home. Caught a bad cold. Apparently he was out in the rain last week and got drenched" Kate replied.
A small pang of guilt smacked Olivia's heart when she heard that. She gave Kate a fake smile and walked away, to the once place she found peace in, the Auditorium.
She remembered when Jared had come over to her house at two a.m. drenched, and slept over just to vanish without a word the morning after.
"How come the thought didn't come to me that he caught a cold goddammit" she said out loud to herself, in a harsh tone, almost as if she was scolding herself.
"Who caught a cold? Sorry I kind of overheard you." She heard someone say.
She looked up to see a familiar looking boy, with bluish grey eyes and jet black hair. She didn't seem to recognize him.
"Umm, my friend. He's been absent all week and I didn't realize it's because of a cold." She replied.
'Who is he?'
"Oh, I'm sorry. Hope he feels better soon" he said and gave a genuine smile.
'He looks so frigging similar holy smokes who is this'
"Umm, thanks" she replied, rather awkwardly.
"I'm guessing you didn't recognize me." He then continued.
