The next day, Jared got out of his car and walked towards the school entrance wondering why everyone was behaving so weird.
Everyone in the hallway was speaking about the same person.
Michael Eddington
Michael Eddington was in thier batch back in elementary school, but had left and gone to Australia when they were fourteen years of age, around a year after Olivia had left for Britain.
"What's going on?," Jared asked Kate, and she said, "Michael is apparently coming back because of his father's death in some hit and run case."
"Oh" was all Jared could say. He knew how it felt losing a parent. He wasn't close to Michael but he was friendly with him because of Olivia. He then said, "I'm heading to class. See you later" and walked away.
"Wait Jared!" Kate said, and then continued ,"I was wondering if you're free this evening. My parents aren't going to be in town so I thought maybe, we could, you know" and took a step closer to him.
"Uh, I'm busy Kate. Sorry. Bye" Jared replied and walked away.
He walked into class, it was AP Physics, and he noticed he was twenty minutes early. So he did what he usually did, took out his sketchpad and drew.
Only Olivia knew about his liking towards drawing. Nobody else noticed or bothered to ask. But it felt, in his opinion, like she too had forgotten.
But that didn't discourage him. Drawing wasn't just a hobby for him. It was a passion. He wished to become into an architect in the future and design the greatest buildings he ever could. Drawing and sketching took his mind off of everything. All of his worries, all of his woes, everything he ever experienced and felt was melted into his pencil as he moved it across the page.
That's when he heard a distinct conversation on the other side of the window he was sitting on.
"Oh my god Olivia this is fate. I can't believe he's coming back the exact year you did. What are the chances of that happening!?"
"Shut up Ash, his father died."
"I know that Ollie but look, he left around a year after you did and he is coming back exactly when you came back. Not to mention you totally crushed on each other a year before you left "
"Ash, that was in fifth grade. And also, I stopped crushing on him because he poured pumpkin juice all over Drew to prove a point!"
"But Ollie he was like eleven when he threw the juice he was a kid. Plus according to my sources, puberty did him well"
"Shut up Ash" Olivia said and he could hear her laugh.
He sighed and closed his sketchbook. Somehow the day she left to Britain was the day she wasn't his best friend anymore. But he didn't find her any less either.
'I never knew she crushed on him. How come I didn't know?' He wondered.
Before his thoughts could wander any more, students began entering the room, waiting for class to commence.

Olivia was waiting at the cafeteria for Jared to appear so she could talk to him about helping her out with her project. She knew he was great at drawing and knew he'd say yes just because he'd love to draw anything, anywhere, at any time.
"Atleast sit down and eat, when he comes you can talk to him" Drew said, while taking a bite of his pasta.
"She can't. She's got only three seconds to get his attention before he sits down with Kate." Ash explained, knowing that Olivia wouldn't stop.
"Jared!" They heard her almost shout as she walked towards him and they watched as they spoke, although they couldn't hear a word.
When Olivia returned, around five minutes later she seemed extremely dismayed.
"What's up?" Ash asked, taking a sip of her apple juice.
"He said he can't help me, Apparently has other plans" Olivia replied. Drew sighed and said, "Well, we all can help you. Don't worry, or else I'll find someone who can draw for you, I promise okay?"
"If he doesn't, I will." Ash said and then continued, "Now eat up. We only have about ten minutes."
Olivia nodded, trying to hide her disappointment and took a bite of her pasta as well.
Although she was laughing at the jokes made by her friends, her mind drifted off to the various wonders she questioned.
"Why did he say no? Who's gonna help me now? What will I do? What is the function of a rubber duck? " And so on.
