The gun shot fired onto the air, and like wild monkeys, all the girls in her subdivision started towards the water. Riley was fast, but not as fast as number twelve, Tess Stevens. Tess was a tall olive skinned girl with curly, short, dark hair and a kind face. She was always second place when competing against Riley, but this year was different.Riley hasn't practiced as much this year as she did last year, she was too focused on her school work and Lukas's new cute friend that moved in next door...
A wave crashed over Riley's head making her go under and taking her thoughts off the boy. she Looked over her shoulder and saw that number sixteen gaining on her. Riley paddled as hard as she could passing Tess and almost everyone else except number three, Eleanor Russell.
Eleanor has been Riley's best friend since sixth grade and was always her shoulder to cry on, but she was also who Riley worried about most when it came to winning this competition. Ellie only started surfing last year and some how became almost as good as Riley. Ellie was perfect in every way possible. She had long ombre hair that reached her elbow, and bright ocean blue eyes. She has a perfect body. Skinny, but not too skinny, big boobs, but not too big, tall but, not too tall, and she's kind to everyone. It's just not fair. And if Ellie won this competition then Riley would kill herself. Surfing was the only thing Riley was better then her at, that's why when she finally passed Ellie a big weight was lifted off her chest.
Riley was first and as happy as could be. She pushed on her bored and prayed to God she could stand up with out falling.
