Hazel stared at me with big eyes. The world seemed frozen, nobody was showing signs of living. Until Carl and I both started hysterically laughing. I got off Carl and gave Hazel a tight squeeze, she refused to touch me, just stared at me. I felt like she was sucking my soul out of my body and replacing it with guilt.
"Don't touch me whore." She said under her breath.
She flipped her long, dark hair and slowly started to leave the room. I wanted to call her name, I wanted to run after her and tell her it's all a joke, but I've never been called that name before. It rested on my lips,
"Whore..." I mumbled to myself "It was a joke Hazel." I whispered, I couldn't speak up. I turned to Ellie.
"Good one, but bad one my friend." She said with a forgiving smile. She tugged on Shawn's arm so he'd bend down for her. She whispered something in his ear, and they both sat down and motioned for me and Carl to go get Hazel and tell her.
And boy we ran. By the time we reached her she was on my front porch. Without saying a word Carl grabbed Hazel by the shoulders and flipped her around so they were facing each other.
"Hey." He whispered. she didn't reply, just stood there holding his gaze. It seemed like their noses were a centimeter apart. In one swift motion he cupped Hazel's cheeks and brought her in close, and touched his lips to hers. I just stood there, in the door way, watching Hazel's dream come true. I realized I was being creepy a little too late. They broke apart and turned to face me, Carl blushing, and Hazel smiling.
"I hope you know now it was a joke, and I love you." I said. Hazel nodded and gave me a long hug.
"I'll go back upstairs." Carl laughed "Don't be too long."
Hazel and him locked gazes again as he walked by. She turned to continue talking to me as I watched Carl head to my room. Smooth moves Carl of course, right as Hazel turned to look at him, he tripped and fell up the stairs.
"There he goes!" Hazel said giggling.
Carl got up quickly trying not to show us how red his face was and continued walking to my room.
Hazel and I came to my room a few minutes later to find only Lukas, the boy, And Carl.
"Where the fuck did El and Shawn go?" I asked.
The boy nodded his head toward the closet and we both started laughing. As soon as the timer went off I creaked open the door.
"love birds, time to come back to reality." I said in a high squeaky voice. To nobody's surprise they were kissing.
"But I don't want too." Ellie whined.
Shawn laughed and stood up, he picked her up off the floor and planted a firm kiss on Ellie's cheek. Suddenly I found a surge of confidence inside me.
"Hey," I said to the boy, smiling "Isn't it our turn?"
