As the days kept passing away and another month had rolled down the calendar filled with a lot of endearing little moments.
Nikshit who had been hell bent on staying true to his old self just a few months ago was now found doing the most. His flooring smiles, his teases that made her blush every time, his kisses that always took her breath away and his bear hugs that felt like the most comforting hugs ever. Maithili was slowly falling for all his goods she's been showered with.
"You wanna go for a movie tomorrow?" Nikshit put his arm around her shoulder as they walked aimlessly on the road in the evening. It was freezing cold but the roasted corn at the corner of the street was too tempting to miss out on.
"Sure. Which one?"
"Got the tickets for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. It's a night show." A misty breath left his mouth, feeling a parched sensation on the lips as he licked on them.
"Sounds great! Movie date it is." Maithili smiled, gave a thumbs up and broke away from his hold swiftly when she saw people passing by looking at them. Her cheeks tinted pink. Maybe she was shy, or perhaps it was too cold.
Nikshit shook his head, his smile wavering just a tiny little bit at the loss of touch as they walked side by side.
It was as if Nikshit was on a mission of 'making my wife fall in love with me' these days. His every little move left her heart fluttering. His slightest touch left her yearning for more. Nikshit Dahiya was the magician who was trying to abracadabra his way into her heart.
The office romance that was nonexistent a few months ago was too violently rising like a fire. They were either seen taking quick breaks and going to the rooftop and sometimes spotted holding hands in the lift or under the lunch table. These were very sweet experiences.
So sweet that it was scary sometimes.
Maithili knew she could not look back at this point but she also knew there were things awaiting her further ahead which she might end up dreading. Her heart had softened already but that didn't not mean the feelings were exclusively romantic.
Maithili, even though ate the fruits, she still couldn't get herself to water the plant and help the garden bloom.
She was dreading something unknown, something which might not even exist in the future but she couldn't really stop herself from doing it either. Perhaps that was stupid but that was also the only defense mechanism she had in herself and that was to not give in to her newly born feelings so easily.
Although it was her way of protecting her own heart, it had left Nikshit hurt a lot of times. That man has been left disappointed over so many things already he'd probably lost count of it.
"What are you doing? Nikshit, we're at the office. Someone might see us!" Maithili hissed, struggling in his hold. They were standing right behind the lift, on the staircase, stealing kisses during the lunch hours away from the eyes of their colleagues.
Nikshit was probably getting carried away because he wasn't ready to leave. Too intoxicated over the soft lips and supple skin over her open back of the blouse.
"Calm down. We're in public." Maithili slapped on his shoulder lightly and pushed him away, glaring at him.
Disappointment was written all over his face but she couldn't do anything about it either. She could already hear people talking near the lift, probably going back to their floors.
