The end of January was nearing and the temperature had fallen down to 6 degrees celsius. Kaushiki and Neelam had arrived the day before, it'd be more convenient for her to stay here at home. Vidhart hadn't come surprisingly or per se, couldn't come. There was still work to look after over there after all.

The only peace she has been getting for the past few days after spending a night at the couch, and sharing the little space for the whole night in discomfort and waking up with muscle pain. She has been following the same move like a ritual, sticking close to him at nights when he'd fallen asleep.

"Maithili, come over." Kaushiki urged her to join her and Neelam when she spotted her standing near the staircase, texting someone probably, judging by the fast tip-taps of her fingers.

"What are we watching?" Maithili's facade of being absolutely fine was unrecognizable. She sat by Kaushiki's side on the sofa. They were in the drawing room, watching the new daily soap that's grown over them these days.

Maithili picked up some of the grapes kept in the plate in front of them and popped one inside her mouth, watching over the screen. It was not interesting enough because she did not know the whole story. Maithili's thoughts flew away pretty soon, her gaze blankly looking nowhere in particular.

"Maithili?" Neelam called out for the second time, seemingly concerned. It's not that Maithili and Nikshit were great at hiding the tension that has been growing between them for over a month now. The family members have noticed it long ago but it wasn't their place to interfere either because the two have been pretending to be doing just fine in front of them.

"Yes, Ma?" Maithili looked at her, her trance broken now. Neelam shook her head, taking both her daughter-in-law's hands in her own. They ended up sharing a laugh looking at the sizes of their hands. Kaushiki's stature as well as her limbs were long, including her feet and palms. Neelam had the smallest palm among them. Kaushiki held their palms in between her big palms, breaking into contagious giggles.

It was just funny at that moment. Getting happy over stupid little things had their own piled up charms.

When people close to you think about how things would make you feel, pay attention to every detail while making decisions which might affect you. It matters a lot. It shows how much they care about you and love you. Maithili had luckily found those purest bonds within her new family.

"They're growing up so fast, bhabhi." Maithili chipped as she smothered her palm over Kaushiki's belly bump. Kaushiki grinned while rubbing both her palms over her belly. Nobody knew it was a girl or a boy but Vidhart had already made up his mind that it's both. Kaushiki was pregnant with twins.

"You better follow after soon." Kaushiki teased. Maithili's smile faltered, avoiding any eye contact with Kaushiki. It made her feel really sad when her thoughts were thrown back to how her and Nikshit's equation has been growing worse with time.

"I'm always here if you want to talk, you know that right?" Kaushiki held her hand, as if reassuring her that everything will be alright. Maithili pressed a sad smile, not really trying to hide it from her. She really wanted to talk about it, it was getting heavier on her head and heart day by day. Neelam who had gone back to the kitchen to get some more fruits came back with an additional big bowl of carrots and a grater.
