Reunited and Stronger

Chapter 10 ~G~

I'm waiting on my couch drinking some coffee. It's the day before school and I asked Adam if he could show me the mall. I asked the rest of the group if they wanted to come with but Macy and Devon have a date day, Josh is finishing up a book before school starts, and Danny said he's working on some really cool tumblr cake.

I take a sip of my coffee when I hear a knock on the door. I set down my mug on the table as I scramble myself to open it. I thought it'd be Adam but when I opened the door I saw a boy about my age that I've never seen before standing in front of me.

"Oh um, hello" I say awkwardly.

"Hi, I was looking through my mail and I think one of yours got mixed in with mine" he says smirking.  The vibe he's giving me is sorta creepy.

"Sorry, I just moved in. Thanks" I grabbed the enveloped from his hand and was about to close the door until my supposed neighbor started speaking again

"So you just moved here? From where?" He says, trying to spark a conversation. I cursed internally, "umm yeah, I lived in the east coast before." I didn't want to be rude but not like I have to be friendly just cause we live in the same building.

"Cool, did you live in like Florida or something?" He says taking a step closer. Oh god, his cologne.

Oh. My. God.

Now I'm starting to feel uncomfortable. I was about to reply another vague answer until a familiar voice interrupted me.

"New York"

The voice took my neighbor by surprise. I looked over to see Adam walking towards us looking pretty intimidating. He inspects the guy and leans on the wall. "Who's he?"

The guy takes a quick step back and I sigh in relief. "Apparently my neighbor."

"Yeah, I just came here to give her back her mail. It somehow ended up in my mailbox but I guess those things just sometimes happen"

Adam looks at him suspiciously and looks at the envelope in my hand, "is that it?"

"yeah"  he motions for me to hand him the envelope and I quickly comply. He looks at it and scoffs, "your name is Crystal now?"

"Yea- wait what?" Crystal? I don't even look like a crystal.

"Yeah, that's the name on the envelope"

I snatched the envelope and checked. It does say Crystal. I look at the guy and handed it to him with confusion clearly on my face, "sorry, this isn't mine."

"Oh, sorry. I guess I got the wrong room. Whats your name by the way? So this mix up doesn't happen again."

Looking at Adam pleadingly he runs his hand through his hair and sighs, "Dude, why don't you return that letter to the right person first." Adam then motions me to follow him and I hurriedly grabbed my purse before I do.

"I felt like singing that Victorious song Take a Hint" I say as I got into the passenger seat

"Doubt he'd even understand, did you smell the amount of cologne he had on?"

"Amen to that," I scrunched up my nose when I recalled the smell, "Axe."

"Oh my gosh! He's so cute!" After checking out the mall I made a quick stop to the pet shop. They have so many types of animals I'm literally crying. "They have a capybara, my effing god what is this godly place."

As I was freaking out over all the animals I hear Adam laugh behind me, "you're gonna get a pet aren't you?"

I scoff, "Of course, I'm so not leaving here empty handed." I looked around the store and spot a worker. "Excuse me, can you help me with picking a pet? There's way too many options"

The employee gives me one of those professional business smiles and hands me a book with a list of all the animals, "of course. First things first, do you live in a house or an apartment?"

"Apartment"

She gives me a nod and turns to a certain section in the book," okay, so these animals would be more suited to living in a closed off space. Do you have experience with raising a pet?"

I shake my head, "nope" while popping the 'p'

After turning a couple of more pages she hands me the book, "so these are the options I feel would best suit you in your circumstances. Take your time."

I smile brightly and quickly flip through my options, "Adam what do you think?"

He carefully scans the book and in unison we both say "pug." We laugh as the employee shows us to the area where the pugs are. They had about 5 of them in a little play area.

"Figures you would know what I'd pick. What's the point in even asking." He says as he bends down and pets the dogs that are barking at his feet.

"Of course I'd know" I say with in an obvious tone. "I know for a fact that out of all the animal pages you follow on Instagram, the pugs top them all." I bend down next to him and pick up a gray colored pug, "this one, she has my eyes." I held the dog next to my face so Adam can see the similarity, "see?"

The employee appeared and looked satisfied that we've made our choice, "aw, good pick. I'll be at the counter as you pick up the essentials for him like bowls and other stuff. Oh, and don't forget to pick a name."

We nod to her and start going around the store. "What should his name be? I kinda want to give him a color name like mine. What about gray, like his the color of his fur." I looked at the dog's face for confirmation. He only showed disinterest and continued to slouch in my arms. I sigh, "he doesn't like it"

"What about G" Adam says as he hands me a green bowl, "for green."

I look at the dog for approval. He started barking and scrambling in my arms when he hard the name. I laugh, "aww, he likes it. Got it, let's get all his stuff green. Can you do it B while I talk to that lady?"

"Aye aye captain"

I quickly went to the lady and signed the paperwork for G. "It's so cute how you and your boyfriend are getting a puppy together" she says as I write down G's name on a piece of paper.

I blushed, "oh, uh, no. We're not dating"

She looked at me with surprise, "really?" She says eyeing Adam who was still looking around the store "so he's fair game?"

I glared at her making sure G doesn't notice my change of expression, "NO". My sudden outburst surprised even me. Thankfully the lady just shrugged it off and continued sorting things out. While I was waiting for Adam to come back with the stuff I started playing with my new pug. I am absolutely smitten with its him. He would lick my face every chance he got and was even sorta bi polar. One moment he's all jumpy and happy but then all of sudden he would get lazy and just slouch down and take a short nap. I chuckle at his silliness. Adam later came back with the stuff and carried them to the car while I carried G.

"He keeps licking my hand," Adam says chuckling. I had to hold on to G while we were on the car cause he'd keep jumping to Adams lap while he's driving and start distracting him. "Woah there G, I don't want to die the day before school starts" I say trying to get him back into my hold.

Saying that Adams smile faltered into a more serious expression, "I hope you don't cause any problems. Not everyone will be nice just because you're new."

I sigh, "I'm not expecting them to you worry wart. Calm down, it'll just be like that for only a week. After that you can protect me like how Edward protects Bella or like how Louis protects Harry."

He stops the car in front of my apartment and glares at me, "1) I am not Edward level protective and 2) no more hanging out with Josh when he's on a Larry rampage"

I roll my eyes, "whatever you say B"

We both got out of the car with me holding G and Adam bringing the bags of stuff we got from the pet store. When we reached my room he set the stuff down in the living room and I put down G so he can get use to his new home. I saw Adam getting ready to leave but I quickly gave him a hug as he opens the door, "thank you" I say in a low whisper.

He returns my hug with an equally stronger one and sighs as we separate, "I'm glad you're back R. I'll see you tomorrow."

I nod, " yeah"
