"Welcome home!" My mom said as we pulled up to my house. I had left California earlier that morning so I could have as much time with my mom as I could. I was still on a bunch of pain killers so I was giggling as I got out of the taxi.
"ALICE!" I heard someone yell. When I turned around Sam was running down the street.
"SAM!" I yelled back opening my good arm.
"I dint know you were coming home." Sam said as she hugged me.
"After the accident we all thought I would be better off here for a few days. I have so much to tell you though." I said throwing my arm around her shoulder. It felt nice to be back in New Jersey. To hear the crunch of snow under my feet, and the cold air hitting my cheeks.
"Ah the smell of winter!" I said laughing again as I unlocked the door for my mom who was carrying our bags.
"Oh Sam it's so nice to see you." My mom said as we walked through the door.
"I've missed you Theresa." Sam said taking my bag from my mom.
"Well I'll let you girls go catch up. I'm going to take a nap. Alice we are gonna eat out tonight so be ready." She said kissing my cheek before leaving the room.
"So lets go to your room!" Sam said taking my hand and dragging me up the steps. When we got to my room I fell onto my bed and Sam joined me. I threw my legs over hers and she gasped at all the cuts.
"Holy shit." She said looking at them.
"And I have this!" I said moving my hair so she could see the big line for stitches running across my forehead.
"Wow. So that's what happens when you go through a car window." She said running a finger lightly over the deep cut.
"Yep. The boys thought I was so funny when they came to visit me. I'm on a bunch of pain killers and they make me laugh, and say random things." I said playing with a tassel that was hanging off one of my pillows.
"So what do you have to tell me?" She asked turning to face me.
"I met my dad." I said. Sam was the only one I had ever talked to about my dad.
"No fucking way! How did that go?" She asked.
"Really good except I found out I have twin siblings." I said. I had said goodbye to Savanna and Bo at the airport, and agreed that when I got back we would defiantly go out for dinner.
"Wow how old are they?!" She asked facing me.
"16." I said.
"Wait does that mean your dad..." She said drifting off at the end.
"Yep cheated on my mom a moth after she got pregnant with me. Thats why he left. Brenda my stepmom, and him were more in love and happier than my parents were. Savanna actually came and found me. Her twin is Bo they are just so nice and cool." I said smiling at the thought of my siblings.
"Well do you have pictures?!" She asked.
"Not yet they are all on Savanna's phone. Mine wasn't working at the time and then I got in the accident and all they could save was my SIM card. So I don't have a phone for today." I said shrugging. I didn't really care about not having a phone for a few days. I was jut glad I was alive. Sam and I sat on my bed talking. She told me about everything happening in school and I found out I was already months ahead of them.

"Alright baby girl ready to go?" My mom as she stood by the door. I nodded my head and looked down at my outfit on last time. I was wearing white jeans, and oversized black sweater, and my black boots. The boys had done a great job packing winter clothes for me. I had been able to do a little bit of make up with one one hand.
"Where are we going?" I asked as we walked out into the freezing December air.
"A new Chinese place just opened. I figured you'd like to go there." She said unlocking the car door for me.
"Yeah sounds good." I said relaxing into the old leather of my mom's car. This car was older than me from the pictures I've seen. I opened the glove box and saw where I had stashed a bunch of hair accessories.
"Oh remember how when you were in 6th grade you would always forget something so you just put it all there." My mom said giving me a sweet smile.
"Yeah." I said pulling out a black headband and pulling my hair out of my face. I didn't care if people could see my stitches it didn't bother me. As we pulled up to the restaurant it was already packed.
"Don't worry I made a reservation." My mom said patting my leg. I nodded my head and got out of the car.

As my mom and I sat down in a booth I felt awkward. People from school were here and they all kept looking at me. There was one pair of eyes that caught mine. They had been scaring me since my first day of middle school. I looked him right in the eyes and he gave me an evil smirk.
"FREAK!" He yelled at me from across the dinning room. I turned back to my menu and ignored him. Every time I would look up he was staring at me. I couldn't take it any more I wasn't going to live in fear anymore.
"Excuse me mom." I said getting up and walking over to his table. It was filled with guys from school.
"Ah so the freak has returned. Did the fags kick you off the tour?" He asked getting a few laughs. I shot all the boys a look and they shut up.
"Fuck you. I'm here for personal reasons. Why don't you just leave me the hell alone?!" I yelled.
"Aw look the freak's trying to be brave. Did the fags beat you and break your arm?" He asked nodding at my arm.
"No you jack ass! I was in a car accident. My car flipped 3 times and I wet out the window! Get your head out of your ass cause it sure as hell isn't a hat. I've had it up to here with you and your stupid bullshit! Why do you even hate me in the first place!" I yelled getting close to his face.
"Cause your a freak! Stop acting like your all high and mighty. No one liked you here." He said getting closer to my face.
"Bullshit! No one can stand you. You are an egotistical asshole who goes around making everyone else feel like shit! Well I'm done being bullied by you!" I yelled picking up his drink and dumping it on his head.
"Oh you stupid bitch! Do I need to break your fingers again!" He yelled getting closer to me. The room went silent when those words left his mouth.
"You were the one who broke her fingers?!" I heard a guy named Ryan say standing up from the table.
"Yeah so what?" Matt said over his shoulder.
"She's a girl and you broke her fucking hand!" He yelled. Matt didn't have time to respond before Ryan's fist met with his nose.
"What the hell! You're sticking up for her!" Matt yelled holding his nose.
"You're a dick Matt." Ryan said before turning towards me.
"Thank you." I said smiling at him.
"No problem you finally gave me a real reason to punch him in the nose. I don't think he is gonna bother you." He said smiling down at me.
"Thanks. Well I gotta go." I said waving as I walked back to my mother who had a shocked look on her face.
"Alice..." She was about I lecture me.
"Can we not talk about it. I just want to relax for the next few days." I said turning back to my plate of food. We finished out meal in silence. I didn't look at Matt's table for the rest of the night. I didn't care about him anymore. He meant nothing to me now.
