Chapter 26

We all sat in the waiting room, waiting for something good to come out of our sorrow. A nurse came out as I look up.

"She's been revived and the bullet was taken out of her body. She will be okay but she needs to be on life support for about three months," she tells all of us. Graham runs up and hugs her before running and jumping on Adam and yelling 'Daddy she's going to live'!

I smile at the both of them. Adam's face brightened a little bit wider, his eyes glimmered a bit more. It made me smile. Adam and Graham hug it out for a few minutes while Mat was taken back to Reegan's room.

About three hours later, Mat returns. Dustin was asleep on Rob's shoulder, Tyler and Kyle were talking amongst themselves, Ty, Adam and Jason were talking about random crap in the world. The rest of us sat there, bouncing our legs in anxiousness to see the little girl.

We all wait about one more hour before we all can go see Reegan. Graham started running down the hall but Adam stopped him before he could get further than about 10 feet, taking his little hand in his big one.

We all reached Reegan's room, quietly opening the door and walking in. Reegan lay there, tubes up her nose, breathing slowly.

"Dad?" she whispers so quietly we can't hear her sweet little voice. Mat goes up to her and takes her hand.

"I'm right here baby," he whispers, kissing her cheek. Reegan lolls her head to look at him.

"It hurts Daddy," she whispered, tears softly falling down her cheeks. Mat kisses them away.

"You're going to be okay," he says quietly, barely reaching the whisper. Graham steps forward, walking up as Mat goes by us again. He takes her little hand in his.

"Hi Reegan," Graham says. Reegan opens her eyes just a tad, peeking out to see who was talking to her.

"Graham," she smiles warmly. Graham kisses her nose.

"You'll be okay. Hang in there for us," he said, looking at all of us as Reegan squeezes his hand. Graham leans down and kisses her cheek quickly before getting up and walking back to Adam.

We all stayed in the room with her until she fell asleep. Graham insisted on staying with her until she woke up so Dustin and Graham stayed in there with her.

"You have a good son," I say to Adam, patting his back.

"I know. He has a good heart," Adam said smiling. He seemed proud of his son.

"Shame that his sister died," he said. I nod.

"Yeah it is," I say. Mat and Rob go to get food for all of us while I go check on Graham, Dustin and Reegan. I walk up to Reegan's room and look through the door window.

Reegan was sleeping soundly, Graham holding her hand, kissing her cheek every so often. Dustin snapped a picture on his phone. My phone vibrates in my pocket.

A picture of Reegan and Graham came up onto the screen as I pulled my phone out of my pocket. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. A doctor pushed past me to get into the room to check on Reegan.

I rubbed my arm because he pushed it kinda hard. I peek into the window as I see the doctor push Graham out of his way so he could check on Reegan. Dustin picks up Graham before he could punch the doctor.

I barge in the room.

"HEY! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" I yell at him. He turns.

"I'm a doctor," he said briefly before writing something on the clipboard and leaving. I pick up Graham and set him on the chair next to Reegan. He takes her hand as she stirs.

"Go back to sleep, sweetie," he coos, rubbing her fingers with his own. Dustin stands up and walks over to me.

"He really cares about her doesn't he?" he whispers. I nod. He smiles and walks back to his seat. I go downstairs and walk to the waiting room to see everyone had food. Mat tosses me a burger and I catch it, opening it and taking a bite.

"I feel like we've been here all to much," Rob says. Everyone nods.

"Someone take food up to Dustin and Graham?" Adam says, holding two burgers in his hands. I nod, taking the two burgers up to the guys.

I reach the door when I hear something crying and something slapping something else. I barge through the door. The doctor from before was hitting Dustin with a clipboard and Graham was crying, holding on to Reegan who was crying too.

"STOP," I yell, dropping the burgers. I run up to the doctor and rip him off my brother. I look at the doctor.

He wasn't a doctor.

He was Graham, Dustin, and Reegan's kidnapper.
