Chapter 30

Tris and Lauren were officially engaged. They didn't tell anyone besides us and their friends. They were young...

I sat in my room, thinking it over. My Skype rings. I get up and walk to my computer, sitting on the chair.

Rebecca

"Might as well..." I whisper, answering her call. It's been about five months since she was announced pregnant by Jason, and about two more added onto it. She was pregnant for 7 months already. She shows up, holding a small baby in her arms.

"Hi Mitch," she says, smiling, dark bags under her eyes.

"You had your kids," I say, smiling at her. She nods.

"Yeah I did. This is Rob," she said, showing me the small baby in her arms. I smile a toothy grin at her. She smiles warmly at me before talking to someone in the background. I raise my eyebrow as Jason comes into view, holding another child.

"Here's Sadie," he said, showing me the baby. I smile at the little girl too. She was really cute, along with little Robert. I frown.

I'm not the dad.

Jason is...

I shake my head and smile again. They smile back at me before going on to explaining things I don't even remember. My eyes water as they hang up.

I walk up to the mirror behind me, smashing it to pieces. My tears fell onto the bloody glass as I take one and slit my wrist. Dustin quickly runs downstairs.

"MITCH STOP!" he yelled.

I black out.

I wake up after what seemed like three hours of me being asleep. I look around the room, my eyes landing on Dustin.

"Dustin..." I whisper. He looks up and runs over to me.

"Mitch why? Why would you do that?" he asks, tears forming in his eyes.

"I can't stand seeing Jason and Rebecca together... I can't stand it..." I loll my head to the side.

"No. She's a mom, he's a dad. Respect them," he said.

"I can't."

"You can."

"HOW!?" I raise my voice at him.

"BECAUSE THEY ARE THE PARENTS NOT YOU." He was quiet for a while, as was I.

"You want to be a dad so bad, adopt someone and not me. I swear Mitch. I'll live with you to protect you, to watch out for you."

"Dustin-"

"SHUT UP MITCH. Seriously you need to be the adult instead of everyone acting like one around you. Rebecca is not coming back. She's a mother and she needs to be there for Rob and Sadie. So stop whining and grow up!" He turns away and walks out of my room.

A nurse walks into my room.

"Do you feel better sir?" she asks. I nod.

"You were asleep for about a week," she said. My eyes widen.

"A week?" I ask. She nods.

"A week. Rest," she said, walking away.

I lean back, resting.

Maybe everything turned out how God planned it to be.

Maybe Sadie dying was a test.

Maybe meeting Sam, Dustin, and Graham were by chance.

Maybe everything was supposed to be.

{The End}
