*Recap*

“Excuse me, but do you know where I am?” I ask uncertainly. The man slowly turns toward me, and my eyes widen in shock. No it couldn’t be. Was it really him? I could feel tears well up in my eyes, as the feeling of calm finally left me. The familiar smile on the mans face had me shaking in my shoes in pure shock, and disbelief.

“Grandpa?!” I whisper in shock.

*End recap*

“Hello Mizuki.” He said fully turned around now. I stood there frozen with my jaw hanging open. Am I dreaming? I must be, because this just isn’t possible. I slowly bring my left arm up to my other arm, and take a big chunk of skin griping it between my thumb and pointer finger. I bight my lip counting to three before pinching my arm as hard as I can drawing a little blood in the process.  “Ouch” I squeak waving my arm around. Ok so that hurt, but this still doesn’t make any sense.

‘Grandpa’s’ face scrunched up in worry as he watched me pinch myself. He had been watching me with a small smile until then. I shook my head not believing he was in front of me. This has to be some sort of illusion or maybe even some sick joke. I have already ruled out dream, so what else could it be? Maybe I should just ask him, but I’m afraid of the disappointed that will follow if this isn’t real.

“Are you really grandpa?” I asked not being able to stop the hope from leaking into my voice. He nods his head smiling a little wider. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I took off towards him stumbling slightly before barreling into him. He wraps his arms around me, and pats my back. I couldn’t help the tears flowing down my face, as I squeeze him afraid to let go. The smell of lilacs, and cinnamon combining into one sweet smell causes my shoulder to relax from there tense posture as I breathed in his sent. I know weird combination, but it has always been comforting to me.

He pulls away slightly after a few minutes of me crying with a small frown. I look up at him, and see him looking down at me with sad eyes. “Mizuki, as much as I wish I could stay here and hold you in my arms forever, I can’t.” He says sadly.

“Why can’t you? “ I ask as the tears came back to my eyes. He ruffles my hair slightly before sighing. “I’m on a time limit. I’ll have to return to the other side here soon, and I have a lot that I have to tell you.” He says sadly. I shake my head quickly. No he can’t go. I just got him back. He rubs my back in soothing circles.

“I know it’s hard, but this is very important.” He says seriously. I sniffle before nodding, and rubbing my eyes. “Ok, what do you need to tell me?” I ask quietly. My voice was hoarse from sobbing for so long. He sighs before sitting down in the grass, and patting the spot beside him. “You may want to sit down it is a very long story after all.” He says tiredly. I nod, and sit down beside him watching as he gazes up at the sky with a distant look in his eyes.

“It all began before mankind even existed.” He began. Oh, boy I have a feeling this is going to be even longer than what I first thought.

“God wanted to create life with beings that could feel. Being so used to not feeling anything whether it be pain, hurt, happiness, or sadness. He couldn’t feel any of it. Because in order to feel happiness you must be able to feel sadness or it would have no meaning. He was curious of how these beings would live. So he created what we know as earth.

Now at first there was just nothing but sand that covered earth. He had created these beings but they had died not long after due to not having what they needed. He then proceeded to make oceans, and small differences in land. Now there were fields of grass, rocks, forest. All sorts of different things. He had thought he was being creative.  But again these beings just died a few days after being there, along with all the greenery. So he thought about it for a while, and then created the sun and the moon hoping it would bring back what he had done. He had made progress, but the beings were still dying. He couldn’t figure what they needed, before it had clicked. ‘Food’ he thought suddenly. Thus came the animals and other life forms. Eventually he made seasons, and different land marks. He was satisfied for a while until one day when something changed once again for the worse.” Grandpa continued. I wonder why he wants to tell me this. Although I’ve never heard this story before the one’s I’ve heard where completely different.
