Chapter 15
CYAN'S P.O.V.
Cyan: 3 months until awakening
"The thing about a dragon is, there's no way to cage one. We've all like to believe we're invincible, the literal embodiment of the sun. So tell me little prince, tell me to get inside your cage." Kric cracked his knuckles and then proceeded to crack his own neck before crouching down and motioning me forward with a finger. "Be warned, I won't go willingly."
"Um..." I looked over at Elijah, who was watching expectantly, as if this were just like every other lesson he had ever taught me. "Would you mind-"
"Rule number one Princess, don't ask me." He chuckled, his silver eyes seeming to swirl red for a second.
"Okay then..." I drawled. "Well what if I suggested-"
"Come now, that's just as bad as asking!" Kric laughed again, before pulling a small blade from a holster on his hip and tossing it to me. "Now, make me get in your cage."
I wanted to scream. The purpose of this lesson was to teach me to insert my dominance over my people. Elijah had enlisted Kric, his dragon friend, to teach me how to control a dragon. Unfortunately, this seemed to be impossible. I had no idea how I was supposed to convince the hulking beast with fire burning under his skin to willingly walk into the metal cage Elijah had set out in the center of the sitting room. It didn't help that Kric loved to tease me by calling me little prince or tiny thing or, even worse, princess.
"Focus Cyan!" Elijah snapped, bringing me back to the present.
I tried pouting at both of them, eager for this lesson to be over. "As sweet as those puppy dog eyes are, it's not gonna convince a dragon to bow to you princess. Thats rule number two, do not expect sympathy or loyalty. Respect is earned tiny thing."
I crossed my arms, growing irritated with his nicknames. "Just get in the dumb cage Kric! You're being difficult on purpose!"
"Maybe you're just not up for the task princess, you ever think of that baby doll?" He added a new nickname, making my blood boil hotter than the fire in his veins.
"Maybe I don't want your respect, you flying lizard!" I shot back, tossing his blade at his shoulder. He jumped to the side, missing the knife by an inch as it got stuck in the wall behind him.
"Awe, is her majesty all riled up now? Shall we take a much needed break and rest your delicate ankles?" He taunted me more now, stalking toward me as if I were prey.
"I don't know what's more offensive, the fact that you keep calling me or a woman or that you seem to think women are so weak." I growled, refusing to take a step back even as he began to invade my personal space.
"I call it how I see it baby doll." He chuckled in my ear, laughing harder at my attempt to push him away.
I could feel this burning sensation building in my chest, as my brain seemed to pound with just how irritated I was with Kric right now. When his hand came up to grab at my hair, I snapped. Spinning on him and biting into his hand until he yelped and pulled back. "Don't ever touch me without permission!"
"Or what Princess? Tell me why I should fear you." He growled at me, rubbing the tender flesh of his palm.
"Because I am going to be King! Call me Princess all you want, demean me however you see fit, but one day I am going to rule you and everyone you love! And anyone who has a problem with that can just go shove it! If they judge me on my size or my disposition, well they'll just be wrong! And when that day comes, I'll make an example of all of them! Every single person who thinks i'm weak will be proven wrong!" I was screaming now, stepping toward him and forcing the tall man back into a wall. I grabbed the front of his shirt, surprised that I seemed to actually be able to force him down to look eye level with me. "Now get inside of the cage! If you won't, I'll find someone else who will!"
