The bell that indicates that the period was over rang and all the students instantly got up from their chairs and walked out of the classroom in heaps.
Dani was doing everything in slow motion as usual. And I had already packed my stuff at the end of the period like all the others. Except two. Lucas and Drake who were sitting behind us, seemed to take their time too. And I was just standing there next to Dani with the desire to just run out of the class room as fast as I could. But I had to wait for that slow ass cow. No offense.
"Will you hurry?" I whispered through clenched teeth.
"Why are you always in such a hurry? Stress gives you wrinkles you know" she said without an expression on her face. There she is again with that sassy attitude.
I sighed loudly and turned towards the door, increasing my speed gradually. But as I stepped out in the hall I heard footsteps behind me, and I turned thinking it was Danielle. But it was Lucas and Drake.
"Hi there" Lucas said and smirked at me. I just followed him with my eyes, standing there with a questioning look on my face. And I watched him as he walked down the hall and disappeared.
"What's with you?" Dani came bumping into me and dragged me with her. I didn't answer I just kept walking like nothing ever happened.
The rest of the day kind of merged together, and soon it was time to go home. I was going straight to my best friend's house after school to discuss the first day. I could talk about anything with her, we were just like sisters her and I. The fact that we didn't go to the same school was killing me.
"Let's sit over there!" Dani grabbed my arm and pushed me towards some boulders. Dani was too lazy to stand up waiting for the bus, so I didn't have much of a choice but to do what she wanted to.
"Here! Let's sit here!" she continued and sat down on the boulders and dragged her earplugs out of her pockets. Great! She was going to shut me out again.
We had to wait for the bus for an hour and a half, as it didn't come until 03:15 PM. I just sighed and sat down next to her and looked around for a bit. A couple of guys with tattoos, dyed hair and ripped jeans walked by and sat down a few boulders next to us. Joanna wasn't to be seen anywhere. She was probably making friends with some pretty popular girls somewhere, planning to ditch Dani and me.
Some loner girl were sitting under a three on her laptop doing God knows what and a couple of jocks were fighting over some football as they run past us, with no respect for anyone passing by. They even pushed some nerdy guy over as they made their way past the students. Poor guy, lost his glasses at the ground. He seemed rather defenseless when he bent down to pick them up. I felt kind of bad for him.
Then Drake caught my eye. He was sitting on one of the boulders making out with some blonde chick, with a few of his friends gathered around him. No sign of Lucas though.
"So what are your plans for the day?" I asked and turned towards Dani. She just looked at me with an ignorant look. It kind of offended me that she didn't even care if I spoke to her, so I roughly pulled the plugs out of her ears.
"Ouch!" she complained.
"I said. What are your plans for the day?" I groaned.
"I don't know" she said, not caring, and attempted to put her plugs back in but I grabbed her hand. I wouldn't let her ignore me like that.
"Look to your right" I mouthed and tilted my head towards Drake. She didn't seem to get it. My god! Why did she have to be so stupid?
"Look what Drake is doing!" I repeated a little too loudly, because the people around us started giving me weird looks.
"Oh my god" Dani's eyes widened as she noticed Drake's make out session. And after that, she pretty much ignored me again, so I just kept looking around thinking about you know who.
Someone sat down on the boulder next to us. And as I turned to see who it was I let out a small gasp. There was Lucas, sitting only 2 meters away from me. He didn't look at me a single time, which concerned me a bit. Maybe he didn't give a shit about me anyway. What was I saying? Guys like Lucas never give a shit about anything. But at least he seemed to be interested in me earlier.
Why was he sitting there all alone? His friends were standing not too far from us, why didn't he walk over to them? The question bothered me. As much as I wanted to walk over and say hi, I just couldn't. I was too afraid to be rejected. And anyway, he wasn't my type, and I better start accepting that sooner or later.
03.10 PM, only about 5 minutes left until the buses came. First one. A big blue one. Lucas stood up. That was probably his bus. I looked down at my feet trying not to meet his gaze as he walked by. But I couldn't resist. As he was right in front of me, I lifted my head and looked at him. And he gave me that charming heartbreaking smile again.
"Isn't that your bus?" Dani asked as she woke me up from my trance. That's right! I was going to Evelyn today. Which meant I had to take a different bus from my usual one.
"Yeah, see ya" I said and stood up and started walking towards the bus, right behind Lucas Legrand.
This time the bus was overcrowded and I didn't even get a seat. Lucas was sitting in the back with a couple of those emo looking boys I saw earlier. Luckily, my bag wasn't that heavy, considering we hadn't got any books yet, so at least my shoulders wouldn't be hurting from the weight.
The bus started and I almost lost my balance. I hated standing up in buses. You had to lean over all the time not to fall. And I really wouldn't like to trip over and end up in some stranger's lap. That would be horribly awkward. I just put my ear plugs in and looked out of the window and let time fly.
