I awakened, finding myself in a silenced room with subdued lights. The piece of cloth that was intended to obscure the light from outside were drawn down, only letting in a few rays of sunshine. I was lying in a bed, a massive double bed that had room for at least four people.
The room was chilly, but the bedspread was folded tightly around me. I was wearing a slightly oversized nightgown, and my hair was a bit wet, though I couldn't remember why.
I forced my eyes open and squinted at the surroundings. The room was close to empty, only containing the bed, a lamp in a corner and a dark olive green recliner. But someone was seated in the chair. Not just anyone. But the figure of a lanky half asleep boy. His hair was messier than ever. His chest was rising and falling calmly. Just the sight of him made me feel safer.
I shifted in my position, quietly, not to wake him. But as my eyes landed on him a second time, he was looking at me with a pair of compassionate eyes. He got up from his position, strolled over to me, and sat down on the bedside.
"I know you're probably not at your best right now, but I need to ask you some questions and it's very important that you answer truthfully" he took me by my hand and looked at me with a serious frown. "What happened in that room?".
I stiffened. The memories of the incident started to appear in my mind. Blurry pictures of a bloody scene formed in my view, and I squeezed my eyes shut in fear. "I didn't mean to. It was an accident. There was so much blood Luke, so much blood" I could feel my throat hurting as I uttered the words huskily.
"I know Penn, but I need to know what happened" he stroked my hair carefully, trying to calm me down.
I looked at him in terror. "Is she okay?" I pressed his hand a little and looked him in the eyes.
"Penn..".
"Is she okay?" I didn't even let him think before repeating myself.
"Yes, she's alive and well in the room next door, now answer me. What happened?" he put both his hands around my cold one and rubbed it lightly.
I looked down at our intertwined fingers with a sigh before starting to explain. "Do you know how it's like to have all this anger building up inside of you. And at one point you just snap? It just gets too much for you? You can't keep it inside for any longer?".
"Yes. It's one of my greater issues" he said in a low tone.
"I know I might seem like a quiet, calm and cautious person. I am, because I'm able to control this anger, at most times. Danielle is one of the main sources of my anger, and I just snapped. I only pushed her Luke, I never meant for it to end in a carnage" my voice died away.
"You're stronger than you think you are. You're mind is strong too Penn. Being able to control your anger at a rate like that is unbelievable. No wonder you did what you did. It was an accident Penny, don't blame yourself for this. Dani will be fine in a couple of days, we're taking care of her" he smiled at me and squeezed my hand a little.
"We?" I moved a notch closer.
"Julian is here. And an old friend of mine, who in fact, would very much like to talk to you" he let go of me and stood up. "I know you may have a lot of questions for me, but it's important that you answer ours first. No matter how odd they may seem" he opened the door, and welcomed a tall dark girl.
With dark, I don't mean dark skin, but the only description for her I could come to think of, was dark. Dyed black hair, and a kind of Gothic black dress with ripped jeans that looked like they could be ripped into pieces any second now. A dark green eyeshadow surrounded her hazel eyes, containing glints of many colors, such as yellow, green and brown, and her lips was covered by a dark bright red lipstick.
