Too Cold to Shiver (Trans Petekey)

Part 9. I skipped Part 7 cuz i hate the number Seven.

This is a Mikey chapter so be prepared for some slight transphobia. Poor Mikey. All of her chapters seem to have it.

Pete wasn't responding. Wtf. Pete always responded within a minute of Mikey texting him.
Mikey tried to convince herself that Pete was probably busy. He did say he was at a friends house. It was rude of him to be texting Mikey the whole time. But that didn't stop Mikey from freaking out.

Fuck.

Well, Mikey didn't want to spend her whole night sitting and staring at her phone, waiting for a text that wouldn't come any time soon.
So what the fuck was she going to do now? She never did anything but text Pete. Eventually she just decided on going downstairs and getting some food.

Of course her parents were sitting in the living room when she got downstairs. They were talking with extremely serious expression. Bad timing...
Mikey just tried to quietly walk into the next room. It was a stupid idea because her parents were sitting in the couch that was pointed directly towards the stairs. They were bound to see her.

"Michael," Mr. Way said. Fuck. "come, sit down. Your mother and I need to talk to you."

Oh no. What did they know about?

Mr. Way looked at Mikey with an intense look for a moment. Mikey's heart was pounding. What the fuck was going on??

"Are you attracted to men?"

What the fuck? Where did that come from?
Fuck. HOW DID THEY FIND OUT??? Was she that obvious?? What were they going to do to her now that they know?? Kick her out?  Disown her? Send her to some crazy religious boarding school that will "change" her? What if they knew about the trans thing, too??

"What? Why would you ask that?"
Mikey asked knowing immediately that it was a mistake.

Mrs. Way gave him a quizzical look. "Why are you trying to change the subject?"

"I'm not," Mikey began, "I just-"

"That's not normal," Mrs. Way cut him off. "Did you know the gay community makes up 3% of the community?"

Where the fuck was this coming form?? That had nothing to do with what they were talking about

"So that 3% is trying make everyone agree with them. They want everything to be about them even though there aren't a lot of them!"

Mikey just nodded her head while she was dying internally. Who the fuck told her mom that gay people were only 3% of the population? Almost every person she knew well was gay. Whoever made those statistics was probably way off.

"And then the transgender community makes up only 0.01% of the community."

Mikey really wished she hadn't said anything.

"Well I'm not gay or whatever so..." Mikey trailed off quietly.

She wished that she didn't have to lie about that.

"That's good," Mr. Way. "I just wanted to make sure you were on the right path. People these will do anything to convince kids that it's okay to be gay."

"Yeah it's really messed up," Mikey pretended to agree.

Mikey tuned out the rest of her father's lecture because she had already heard it countless times. There would be nothing new. Just that the gays and transgender people are bad and will be the very thing that destroys our society and will be the death of our great nation. They never missed the chance to talk about that.
