Pete was trying to find comfort in memes. Usually scrolling through the memes would calm him down a bit, make him feel better. It wasn't working this time. He was worried sick about Mikey. He didn't know what was going to happen to her or if he'd ever even get to talk to her again.

He missed her so much. Yeah, it hadn't even been a day since they stopped talking but Pete still couldn't handle it.

Pete was about to just get out of Instagram and try to sleep, because it was 2 a.m. after all, but then he got a dm from Mikey's account. He clicked on it as quickly as he could, not even thinking about what was going on.

It was a lengthy paragraph that read:
Hey! This is Mikey's older brother, Gerard. She wanted me to tell you what was going on. So our parents found out that she's trans. They know about the make up, they know about you, and I'm gonna guess they read all of the conversations you had. They took away her phone and I don't think they're ever planning on giving it back. That's all she told me. I'm sorry

Pete read the paragraph over a couple of times.

What are they going to do to her?

She didn't say but it probably won't be anything pretty. They're really harsh.

Fuck. We have to do something.

Sorry, kid, there's nothing we can do.

Pete was not going to take that as an answer. He couldn't just sit by and let Mikey's parents do whatever they wanted.

He decided to do some research. He wasn't familiar with the transgender policies of New Jersey. He knew it was a very liberal state so the results must be in their favor.

He found a site called  Garden State Equality. It went to a long page explaining what they did and how they were founded. Pete had to force himself to read it. Next to the article, though wee other links, one of them called Report Discrimination. Pete clicked on it.

It led him to a new page that had a for to be filled out.

Pete could only answer four of them. Fuck. He'd have to ask Gerard...

Okay, so I found this website where you can report discrimination on but idk any of the requirements.

What is it called? I'll go fill it out.

Pete gave Gerard the information, not even knowing what would happen once it was filled out.

Pete had no clue what was going to happen after Gerard submitted the report. Would there be some epic scene where there's a bunch of police officers and helicopters that go rescue Mikey. He hoped it was something cool or at least something effective. At the moment all that was left to do was wait.
