~~The Next Day~~
I jolted awake! I looked around, remembering I was safe under a roof. I looked over and saw Jessica sitting at her desk, her face blocked from the laptop in front of her.

"Nightmare?" She asked, not looking up from the laptop. I sat up and cupped my hands to put over my face.

"Yeah" I said muffled, my face still in my hands.

"Are you okay?" She asked. I lifted my face from my hands and yawned.

"Yeah" I lied.
~~7 months earlier ~~
I trudged to my home. It was about an hour and a half walk, and I was an hour in. It was really dark now and I walked a back road home for a bit of a short cut. Head lights passed me by for a couple miles. I looked up at the full moon, the wind was harsh against my clothing. My once warm body became cold. I kept walking though, I needed to get home.... The headlights stopped, it was getting later. Then a pair of head lights shown behind me but didn't pass... Then the lights changed and flashed blue and red. I turned around to see an officer getting out of his car.

"Excuse me ma'am, are you Emma doe?" He asked approaching me. I sighed.

"Yeah..." I said walking up to him.

"I'm here to bring you home" he said.

"I figured..." I said, hoping in the back of the police car.

"Where were you headed" he asked, driving me home.

"Back home" I said.

"Where did you go?" He asked. "To New York" I replied. He looked at me through the mirror.

"That's a long walk, if you don't mind me asking. What for?" He said.
"I do mind" I said finally. I didn't mean to be rude but I had other things to worry about when I got home...
~~Present Day~~

"What are you working on?" I asked.
She quickly closed the laptop.

"Nothing!" She snapped. "Sorry... Your not the only one with nightmares" she apologized. I nodded, then I stood up, stretching.

"You hungry?" She asked
Walking past me out of the apartment. I quickly followed after her. She clicked the elevator button and we both stepped on.

We both stepped onto the street, steam rose from the sewers and I had wished I had brought a jacket, or owned one... We walked a few blocks down the road to a bar. We walked in, it stunk of alcohol and desperation. We stepped over a drunk man who was seconds from being thrown out, I helped him up and took a seat at the bar. She held up two fingers and ask the man for a couple cheese burgers. The man looked at me suspiciously.

"She's with me" she said nonchalantly. He handed her two shots of something. She rolled one down my way. I looked at her quickly then down at the glass.

"I dont drink" I said, innocently.
She guzzled the shot.

"You only don't drink because you never have.." She said, which it was true, I had never tasted it.

"Well... If your not gonna drink it, I will" she said. Then, I quickly downed the shot and quickly looked down. The alcohol burned down my throat, but it was a good kind of burn. "You good kid?" She asked. I looked up with a smile.

"Haha, yeah. I'm good" I said. Then she held up two figures again... We were both three drinks in when I burgers arrived. They were gone faster than they arrived.
~~One Hour Later~~
We had only a couple more shots and I was starting to feel the full affect of the drinks. Jessica could see me falling out, and she sobered up quickly.

"C'mon kid" she said pulling me into the bathroom. I almost didn't make it to the toilet in time. I got sick! Jessica looked away for a moment but held my hair back."I'm sorry" she said. I went to say something, but there was no time in between... Somehow I kept down the food, but now I had chest pain. We both walked out of the bathroom. I looked toward the bar and saw someone I knew... I stopped and pulled Jessica with me. She turned around. "What's the matter? Are you gonna be sick again?" She asked. I shook my head and pulled her to the side."What's wrong?" She asked. I looked around.
"That's a cop," I in a very drunk tone.

"Yeah, so... He doesn't know you were drinking," she said. I shook my head.

"No, he knows me" I said.

"What? How?" She asked, looking at him. Then he looked toward us seeing me. He got up!

"Act normal" I said quickly, throwing my body in an awkward pose.

"Emma?! What are you doing here?" He asked."Who is this" he asked, looking at Jessica, who was noticeably drunk.

"Well..." I started.

"Wait?! Were you drinking?" He said angered. Before either of us could speak, the officer went up the the bar tender. Jessica pushes me forward.

"Go!" She said quickly as we ran out of the bar and back toward her apartment!! The drunk man from earlier tripped the cop and Jessica and I got away.
