"Jessica? You okay?" I asked. She snapped out of the daze.

"Yeah, just thinking" Jessica said, she seemed to be telling the truth.

"So... Are we still leaving? Or..."

"No, change of plans. Will you go pick up lunch while I research this case?" She asked pulling out her laptop and going to work.

"Umm, yeah, sure. Money..?" I said a little hesitant, this caught me off guard.

"In my desk, second drawer" she said nose deep into her case.

I grabbed the cash and went out to grab lunch. I stepped out onto the street, the noise of the city struck me, motivating me to keep going. Standing somewhere too long, seemed dangerous. I walked five blocks, food vendors shouting their options. Hot dogs, tacos and burritos, and pizza. The smells clashed together wonderfully for about two seconds, then other smells ruined it...

"I'm back" I announced, with three bags of food. Jessica looked up.

"Ooo, do I smell Benny's?" She said lowering the laptop.

"Sure do" I said tossing her a burrito, she tore into it.

"What else?" She asked her mouth stuffed. I laughed.

"I also got pizza and hotdogs" I said, sitting down in Jessica's chair, pulling out a piece of pizza and devouring it.
"How's the research going?" I asked.

"Its boring, but I got a lead. I'm heading over to her best friends house after you toss me the dog" she said. I threw her a hot dog and she took off with it. She slammed the door and she was gone. I huffed, got up and put her laptop back on her desk.

"Nap time" I said to myself, flopping down on the cushions.

~~Hours Later~~

I heard the door slam. I opened one eye to see Jessica walk right past me.

"Hey. How did it go? Did you find the friend?" I asked.

"It went okay, turns out that there is a guy. Might not be a strange case after all" she shouted from the other room.

"That's good, right?" I shouted back.

"Its just complicated now" she said, her voice sounded clearer, as she walked into the room. She sat down at her chair. "Have you been sleeping all day?" She looked at me funny.

"Maybe... Why are you all sweaty?"

"You're too young" she said, getting back to work.

"I'm eighteen, and eww" I said, now thinking about it.

"See, you wouldn't be saying eww if you were older" she argued.
I shrugged.

"True" I agreed.

"Uh hey, I gotta go out again tomorrow"

"Do you want me to get more lunch?"

"Uh, no. Yes... Maybe. But, here" she said grabbing a phone out one one of the drawers. "Take this, its my old one. Already filled with important numbers" she said. I jumped up and grabbed an older smart phone.

"Thank you" I said.

"No problem kid" she said, a smirk appearing on her face briefly.

"I'm gonna go to bed. I'm sure you won't have any troubles falling asleep again" she joked.

"Night" I yelled after her as she went to bed.
