The phone in my underwear was beginning to become more apparent. I tried not to fidget, it was sliding down! I tried to remain calm and collected. Then a man came out of the bedroom.
"All clear sir," the man said. I looked for an exit.
"May I rest now?" I asked quickly thinking on my feet. Kilgrave looked to his wrist.
"We haven't even had dinner," he stated.
"I'm not feeling too good, maybe if I laid down for an hour..." Kilgrave nodded and I walked calmly into the bedroom. I smiled to kilgrave before shutting the door softly. I quickly reached for the phone and began to text Jessica. "Help. With Kilgrave. Apartment building a few blocks from coffee. Hurry," I texted as quickly as possible and even took a picture of my view from the window and sent it. Then, I couldn't risk the phone being found. I took the phone apart and hid the battery up underneath the bed and took the remanence of the phone and hid it on the bookshelf. A phone is useless without its battery, the fact that it's missing one could help me if it's found.
I crawled into the bed. I laid on the covers and faced towards the bookshelf and door. The books on the shelf were books I heard of but never read. Many of the covers were kid's books. Where was the child that had this room? We're they dead? Had they grown up and moved away? Or were they a slave to Kilgrave? I hoped that they were free, and if they weren't I wanted to free them... I drifted to sleep wondering who the room belonged to and where they went.
A couple knocks on the door forced my eyes open. It wasn't a dream...
"Dinner," a man said. I rubbed my eyes and got up. I stepped into a yellowish light. My eyes were still adjusting. Then I saw purple.
"Emma, have a seat," kilgrave smirked. I took a seat across from him at a table. A few Chinese containers were sat at the table. "I hope you like Chinese," he said snapping his fingers. A couple of his men began to make our plates. I remained silent, some part of me was scared and the other was in disbelief. The only thing that made sense was that he was a very rich man and paid his men very well... Mind control almost seemed out of the question. The men filled up our plates and I had no complaints there. I dug my fork into the meal. Kilgrave looked to want to speak but hesitated. I shoveled the food into my mouth making it impossible for any sort of conversation. "Is the food good...?" He asked watching me eat. I just nodded and continued. He pick up his fork and began to eat. Within a minute or two I was full and prepared to go back to bed. I stood up, the chair squealed as it moved against the floor. Kilgrave watched me as I stood up and set his fork down with a clank.
"May I be excused," Kilgrave took a moment before nodding. I walked into the room and stood by the window looking out. Some people were passing on the street and I wanted so badly to scream for help. The want was so great I ached. "Help me," I said to myself still looking out. The moon was shone overhead, it was full and bright. A wave of cold flashed through me and I began to shiver. I crossed my arms and walked over the the closet. I opened it up and saw a bunch of shirts and at the very end of the rack was a brown sweater. I grabbed the sweater finding that it was a little bigger than expected but I slid it on and went back to the window. I stared at the moon for a bit finding it calming. Right below my line of sight I saw a flash. I looked to the building across the way. It seemed quiet there was nothing- I stopped, a person sat on a balcony with a camera. They were aimed right at me. I came closer to the window. The person took the camera from their face. Jessica...? Jessica! My heart fluttered. Hope... Jessica held up her phone. She got my message but she wasn't storming the castle... Why not? I waved for to come in, she watched me for a bit and shook her head. Then she pointed to me then down. She wanted me to stay here?? I shook my head vigorously. She tapped to her wrist a couple times. I looked down and nodded. She wasn't gonna be able to help me just yet... I couldn't wait though... I needed out right now! Suddenly the door opened and I spun around, the long sweater swung with me. Kilgrave switched on the lights and walked in.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"I was just looking out at the moon," I said then realizing that Jessica was still out there! Kilgrave began to walk towards the window and I couldn't do anything to stop him...
"Hmm. Full moon," he said then backed away from the window. Kilgrave then began to wander to the bookshelf where I had hidden the phone. He began to touch the spines of the books. "Do you read?" He asked picking up a novel amongst the kids books.
"Uh. I know how to..." I answered. He nodded flipping through the book he had in his hand. Then I watched as he gazed into the bookshelf then looked at me with an angry expression. He pulled the phone from the shelf. I faked a confused look. "Before you say it's mine at least check who's it is," I said. He retained the same look on his face as he attempted to turn on the phone. It took him a minute to discover the battery had been missing.
"Where's the battery," he spoke firmly.
"How should I know. Ask the kid the room belongs to," I said. Kilgrave refused to believe me and began to tear apart the bookshelf. I just stood back and watched him. After he searched the books he checked the pillow, underneath the mattress and even tore off the sheets.
"Where is it?!" He shouted. Then he looked to me. I had stayed calm the whole time and careful not to look around the room. "You have it don't you," he marched towards me and began to feel me up and down! I pushed him away from and shouted.
"I don't have it!" Then before I even knew it, I burst into tears! Kilgrave looked a bit horrified before he walked out and had this men clean up the mess he made. I sat down on the floor and hugged my knees. The tears weren't fake, in that moment the fear, the anxiety and the anger pushed through. I didn't want him to touch me.. ever again.
