I looked up to the sky then back down at kilgrave. He stood up holding the document. I looked for an exit. Thunder boomed over head. In the far distance rain fell, coming closer and closer. I had to make a decision. Before the rain fell onto my skin I stood side by side with the man, protected under his umbrella. I reached for the document.

"Not yet," he said quickly concealing it within his purple suit.

I walked along side him closely while he and I evaded the rain. He brought me to a building a few blocks away from the coffee shop. One of his minions opened the door for me and took kilgrave's umbrella. We walked inside. The building was actually an apartment.

"Nice, isn't it?" He asked smiling up at it. I didn't answer him. It had dark hardwood floors and walls that matched a few abstract paintings on the the walls.

"Alright.... Come on in," he invited.

Kilgrave lead me further in and into a living room. There were black leather couches that faced a large TV. There was a small kitchen to the right. He lead me to the couch.

"Take a seat," he said almost thrilled. H he pulled the papers from his suit. He handed them to me. I looked up to him then began to unfold the papers. Kilgrave watched me read them in anticipation. It was my file. It had my birthday, the list of homes I lived in, my criminal record... This didn't tell me anything I didn't already know...?

"What is this?" I asked moderately confused and a bit angry. He was confused by my reaction.

"Your birthday, your mother," he started.

"What about it? This doesn't tell me anything I don't know," I said unsure to where he was going.

"Eighteen years ago. I had a great night with a pretty little thing," he went into the moment for a second. "My toy at the time..." he said as if he were correcting himself. "I didn't know... But somehow you... how?" He spoke going into thought. I didn't like where he was getting at, I started to creep away while he wasn't paying attention. My movement woke him. With a flick of the wrist I was apprehended by one of his guards and two others entered the room. I didn't put up a fight and was simply guided back to the couch. "Don't you understand?" He asked a smile waving over his face.

"Nah. I wasn't listening," I lied hoping he'd clarify while looking for an exit. He walked over to me. He kneeled down and got on my level. I slowly turned to him. He reached for my hand.

"I'm your fathe-" before he finished speaking I kicked him in the face and ran for it! I ran into a bedroom and scanned the room. Bookshelf, bed, window! I quickly ran to the bookshelf and knocked it over. It fell in front of the door buying me time. I ran for the window. The men beat on the doors, each time they rammed it it opened a couple centimeters. I pulled on the window.

"Open!" I grunted as the window barely opened. I looked back to see the door nearly off it's hinges. The window was still stuck! Only an inch or two! They busted through the door and I stood by the window. I slowly turned around with my arms raised. Kilgrave made his entrance. He had a purple circle on his face... It fit him.

"Emma... That really hurt," he said as if he were actually upset. I slowly reached into my back pocket and pulled out my phone, I put it through the window catching it just barely on the outer ledge.

"I-" I began to speak. He smacked me across the face! I quickly reached for my face and hid my face in my hands.

"Play nice," he said firmly. I nodded a couple times. I could feel myself shake a little. "And clean this up!" He shouted stepping over the shelf. The two men quickly began to put the shelf back up and place the books back on the shelves. I didn't know what to do, I kinda just stood there hopeless. I didn't want to reach for the phone at a wrong time and screw everything up... Screw it! I reached behind me and snatched the phone turning it to silent. Just as the phone slid in my underwear, one of the men pushed me aside and closeted the window. The man then pulled me back to the living room. Kilgrave sat on the far end of the couch, watching the movie he'd put on. I sat a few feet away from him, giving no eye contact nor attention to the movie. I heard a power drill running in the room I was in. It was very possible that was the sound of the window being nailed shut. I looked up, there was a skylight, the storm had passed and the sun could be seen again. Help me. Kilgrave kept glancing over. I could feel his eyes on me. Then he spoke.

"Alright. Time to set some ground rules. If we're gonna live in a house as a family we need to set rules," he said. I shivered, this guy was for real. I looked towards him.

"Rule number one, don't hit me. Rule number two, no leaving without me or a couple guys," he started. I stopped him.

"What is this?!" I questioned. My skin crawled at the madness.

"House rules... honey... sweet heart... we'll come up with nicknames later," his words stabbed me and I snapped. I stood up.

"Stop it! You are not my father you psycho!"  Kilgrave looked angry,  couple guards came in, kilgrave took a deep breath and put a hand up making the guards go back.

"That's not a very nice nickname, like I said, we will figure it out," he calmly. My jaw nearly dropped. This was worse than before. "Rule number three, under no circumstances will you contact Jessica Jones," he said.
