~~Two Days Later~~
I was sprawled out on the couch. A thin blanket covering only half of my body. The top half...

"C'mon kid, let's go" Jessica said, then ripped the blanket off of me. I squinted my eyes while they were still shut. "You can't sleep all day, trust me" she said.

"Watch me" I grunted, turning away from her.

"Okay, you asked for it" she said quietly. I opened one eye, the next thing I know I'm on the floor in a loud thud. She tilted the couch so I'd roll off!!

"Okay, fair" I said a little winded.
She held out her hand to help me up. I reached for hers as well and in one quick movement I was thrown to my feet! "Wow, you're strong" I said, massaging my shoulder that she nearly dislocated.

"Get cleaned up, we're leaving in a few minutes" she said going out onto the fire escape for a smoke. I walked into the bathroom and started to brush my teeth. Three loud knocks came from the door startling me! I stuck my head out the escape, taking the tooth brush.

"Are you expecting anyone?" I asked. Then another few knocks came. Her eyes widened.

"Finish brushing your teeth, I got this" she said putting out her cigarette. I went back to the bathroom to freshen up, while listening in on the conversation. I threw on some fresher clothes Jessica picked up the other day. Nothing fancy, just clothes but much better than I had. A plain black T-shirt, a gray hoodie, and a pair of jeans she joked about taking off of a dead guy. Or at least I hope she was kidding. By the time I was done the visitor's had left. But something was off with Jessica, she looked like she had seen a ghost. Her demons must have been a lot scarier than I thought.

~~7 months earlier~~

The case wasn't closed like we thought, like we hoped. Someone messed something up. Social services drove me to court as a witness.

"Take your seats" the judge announced.

"Do you promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you god" an officer recited.

"I do." I said sitting down.
Everyone's eyes seemed to be on me and made me feel uncomfortable. Then I made eye contact with the horrid woman herself.

"Judge, I'd like to question the witness" said the attorney.

"Proceed" the judge permitted.

"So, Emma. How long have you been have you been in the system?" He asked, walking around.

"My whole life" I answered.

"And how long have you been at Saint Annie's?"

"Almost a year," I responded.

"A year. Hmm." He started, then retrieved a file off the desk.

"Within this year, you have ran away on several occasions, and harmed people around you..?"

"That is false" i stated.

"So you deny that you attacked miss Anne?" He asked. I went to speak but couldn't. "Do you deny that you had intended to harm miss Anne?"
"No, but-" I started.

"So if another child in the home hadn't stopped you, you would have injured miss Anne?"

"Yes, but-" I tried to explain.

"See your honor, if Emma Doe had not been suppressed Miss Anne could have been hurt, or even killed"

"I didn't touch her!!!" I shouted.

"Hostile... Hmmm... Thats all your honor" he said finally.

~~Hours later~~

"Has the jury reached a verdict?" The judged asked.

"Yes we have your honor. We find her... Guilty" they announced. I took a breath of relief.

"Miss Anne, you will serve 90 days community service and counseling until you are deemed fit to return the the home" the judge said. My heart stopped. That's it...? I was escorted out, on the way out I walked past Miss Anne.

"Worthless" she mumbled.
I lunged at her and got an actual hit! She threw herself down and made things worse...
