Katelyn's POV

Yesterday... it was so shocking. I went on a wave of emotions. Does Jeffory like me? Do I like him? Honestly, I think I do. I just don't know if I can trust him. I sighed. It was my turn to make breakfast, today. I made pancakes and left them on the counter. "Hi." a little voice said. I looked over to see Abby. "Hey. Have some breakfast." I feel kind of bad for the girl. Her old babysitter didn't even say hi to her when they met again. "Auntie?" Abby waved to get my attention. "Yeah?" I laughed, putting her hand down. "Why did you run when you first saw me?"

"Nothing"

"It's about dad, right?"

"W-WHAT?!"

"Knew it!"

"Abby! There is nothing wrong with your d-"

"I know. That's why you like him."

"N-no I don't. A-Abby!"

I was probably blushing dark red while Abby was giggling. That's when Jeffory came in. "Ooohhh, pancakes. Classic. Hey, what is going on." He went up to me and lifted my chin up. "Katelyn, are you...blushing?" Abby was laughing uncontrollably, now. Jeffory turned to Abby. "What were you two talking about?" Abby faced her father. "Auntie Katelyn likes you!" Jeffory blushed the same shade of red I was. "WHAT?! Katelyn is this true?" I knew it. He didn't return my feelings. I knew it ever since he heard me mumbling in my sleep "N-no, I-it was a j-joke." I chuckled nervously. "Katelyn! I know you do! Remember when I heard you talking in your sleep!" I sighed. Pools of tears formed in my eyes. I don't know why, but I think it's because Jeffory still didn't like me. "Gotta go! Enjoy the pancakes!" I hurried off, tears blinding my vision.

I knew of a place, somewhere to hide. I ran to the stream. It was like an instinct. There was an opening by the rocks for a cave. It would keep me hidden for a few days at least unless he followed me.

Jeffory's POV

"Okay..." I said as Katelyn ran off. I was about to have a pancake until I saw a drop of water here Katelyn had been. Her tears. I ran after her. She went to the river. I called it the Katelyn stream. I knew she was there somewhere. I just didn't know where. "Katelyn? What happened?"

Katelyn's POV

What happened to him. What happened to us. All those kisses. All those feelings. All that I had holding me together. Did he just do it out of amusement? Why? Why is it always me? Next time, I'll kill myself...

"Katelyn? What happened?" I heard him calling for me. I took the risk. "Y-you happened. " Confusion sprouted through his voice "What do you-" "YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT!! I H-HATE YOU" I screamed back. I didn't care anymore. His gasp filled the cave. "Y-you don't mean that, right? It's a joke, right?" I think I would regret saying this, but he had already done too much. "No." I felt his spirits drop at that word. "I really do h-hate you." He found the cave. "Please! I-I know you're here! Give me one more chance!" I sighed. "This is life. I am here, but I still hate you. So very much." I heard distant sobs. "P-please! Can you at least let me do something? One thing?" I saw his figure approach me. I was cornered against the back wall. "What?" I glared at him, trying to look unwelcoming. "This" He grabbed me and hugged me. He kissed me on the forehead. "I love you, Katelyn."

I don't know what to do. Push him away or confess. I compromised. "One. More. Chance. That's it. Okay?" He brightened. "Yay! I won't let you down!" He jumped up and dragged me out of the cave into the clearing. "So, do you still hate me?" He was whimpering in my lap. "Kinda" He now was hugging me. "Aww. At least it was better than before. Here." He placed a flower crown on my head. I smiled. He will never change. For a while, we watched the stream, talking. I knew that he was trying his very best to impress me, but he really didn't need to. I loved him already.

Jeffory's POV
I am so happy I got another chance with Katelyn! I can dance right now! I don't care! I love her so much! I hope she is happier with me than in that dark cave.
