My Knight

When you were little, did you ever have a knight in shining armour?

Someone who always made you smile?

Someone who always was there for you?

In your darkest times, who was the one who made you laugh?

Who made you smile?

Who made you want to jump in the clouds and fly?

Usually, it's a best friend, an older brother, or sister. At least someone you knew who was.

Although, my knight was unknown. No one knew his name, he wore a helmet all the time, and he was usually quiet.

All I remember his laugh, though. He used to laugh all the time. We played a game..... It's embarrassing. He was the knight, I was the princess. It sounds silly, but it was fun.

He was my knight, my knight in shining armour. We would stick together forever...

Or so I thought...

In high school, he took off his helmet, he wouldn't play with me and he stopped talking to me.

He found another princess.

I guess our relationship was not meant to be.

When his princess died, and he had none, he came to me again.

I moved away, never to be seen again.

Years went by. 6 to be exact. Tragedy struck.

Flashback

"Mother? MOTHER!?"

I woke up to a fire around my bedroom. The fire spread around, heating the room.

I ran outside calling for my mother and brothers. Of course, they were nowhere to be seen.

The firefighters came later. They found 6 lumps of ashes and 6 skeletons.

End

The night came where I had to be sent to an orphanage, even if I was 17.

My knight came once again, by surprise.

He wore his suit, even if it was slightly tighter.

He was my knight, my knight always...
