Expedition gone wrong

We raced over on our horses to where the flare was shot. I had a bad feeling about this decision but followed Abigail and Elizabeth anyway. It's not like I could just leave them. 'It's fine, as long as we are all together it's going to be fine.' But no matter how much I repeated that in my head my feeling just got worse. I had to believe though, I had to keep faith in my friends. I could not leave their side no matter what, I couldn't have what happened to my father repeat with my friends.

~Flashback~

"What are drawing sweetheart?" My mother asked me.

I sat at our new table in front of the sunlight that come through the window. We were in our new home on the surface.

"This one is for Isabel but I'm gonna draw another for Farlan." I said excitedly.

My mom gave me a sad look. Tears brimming her eyes.

"Sweetheart, there's something you need to know..."

~End of Flashback~

My grip tightened around the horse rein. Tears started to fill the corner of my eyes at the thought of what happened to them. I shook my head, now was not the time, I need to focus.

We raced through the forest until we came to a stop as Elizabeth screamed. "What? What's wro-" I stopped mid-sentence when I saw a lone bloody arm laying at the feet of our horses.

I hadn't noticed it until now, probably because I was lost in thought, but this area was covered in blood. Red was splatter across the trunks of trees and the ground.

Elizabeth covered her mouth probably to stop her from puking. Tears sat in the corner of her eyes. She shouldn't of come, she wasn't ready to see this.

"Abigail, we to turn back." I told her.

"No. We have to keep moving." She said staring at the arm.

"What?! Are you crazy?!" I yelled.

"There could be soldiers in need of help. We need to make sure of survivors. They want to live as much as we do, so we can't just leave them." Abigail stared back at me with a strong look.

I sat still on my horse. My head lowered as I thought about the options. My hands shook uncontrollably and became sweatier than before if that was possible.

"Ok..." I whispered. "LET'S GO!" I yelled as my horse shot forward taking lead. My two friends followed behind me, one scared and the other determined.

~Eren's POV~

I finished eating my quick lunch. Well, it was suppose to be quick but I took slow small bites as I pondered on something. Something didn't seem right and I wasn't the only one who noticed it.

Corporal Levi and Commander Erwin were discussing something quietly with concerned looks. I wasn't completely sure what wasn't right but I had a bad feeling.

I laid back and sprawled out on the ground thinking to myself. 'I wonder how (Y/N) and her friends are doing?'

"Jaeger." I sat up quickly as Corporal Levi called me. The higher ups get fussy when I don't respond immediately.

"Yes sir!" I saluted.

"Get your horse together. This expedition is over." He said blankly, grabbing the rein of his horse.

"Over? Why?" I asked surprised they concluded such a decision so earlier.

"We can discuss it later. Now get your horse and don't make me tell you again." He said mounting his own horse along with the Commander.

'It must be serious to cut an expedition short. I hope the others are alright.'

Suddenly, I hear something far off. I couldn't quite make it out but it was almost like a scream. I turn my head to see a flock of birds off in the distance leaving from trees. The others in my group seemed to notice as well. I turned back to Corporal Levi to ask something but stopped when I saw his expression. He looked worried.

We continued, following the trail of blood and disassembled body parts. I kept feeling puke rise up my throat every time we passed a mutilated body. I could tell Elizabeth was feeling the same.

Abigail had taken lead again. She really wanted to be up front and I didn't really have a problem with that because I didn't want to be first spotted by the titans. I know, I'm a selfish, scared, coward. Leave me alone.

Abigail slowed to a stop. We came up behind her until we saw what she was starting at. Five titans, all sitting together, chewing on the bodies of our comrades. Abigail stood dead still, eyes wide open and in shock. Elizabeth stood as if she were trying to scream but nothing would sound.

This was bad. I wish I never came. I wish they never came.

I wish they never spotted us.
