Lost limb but never lost determination

I wish they never saw us.

They looked away from their current food to their next meal. All of their eyes staring at us with hunger. The one closest to us slowly started getting up, still staring.

It stood 7 meters tall. The others beside it began to come towards us. As the 7 meter one lunged at us, the sound stuck in Elizabeth's throat came out. Her scream ear piercing and louder than earlier. Abigail grabbed her and pulled her away and into the trees using her maneuver gear. She set Elizabeth down and tried to calm the heavily breathing girl.

"We're going to die! We're all going to die!" Elizabeth screamed trying to flail away from Abigail.

Abigail gave her a strong slap to the face before bringing her in for a hug. "Pull yourself together! I won't let anything happen to you. I love you Elizabeth."

I gave them a moment to hug. The titans closed in around the tree. We should have chose a higher branch because their hands could almost reach us.

"I'm sorry to break up your moment but we need to get out of here."

"Right." Abigail stood and came over to me. "Elizabeth stay up here, (Y/N) please watch her." She said pulling a new pair of blades out.

"Wait, you can't go alone." I protested.

"(Y/N)! I can handle 3 titans. Please... just keep an eye on Elizabeth." She gave me pleading look that crushed my heart.

I nodded okay and she smiled thank you. Then she launched off the tree over the titans heads. They all watched and followed her.

She made a U-turn and went for their legs. She cut through one leg and as it fell to that side she went for the nape, successfully cutting it. But that was only one of three. The titan behind that one reached for her. She shot up its arm making one long cut before swinging over to the back of the neck. As she did all this Elizabeth and I cheered her on. Abigail seemed to be getting cocky the more we cheered as she cut through their flesh. She gave a big smile as she killed the second titan.

"Take that you son of a-"

"Abigail look out!" Elizabeth screamed.

Abigail turned to see the third titan jumping at her. She screamed as it landed pining her between its face and a tree.

I rushed over to her. I tried to cut the nape but out of panic I missed the mark. Luckily it caused the titan to fall, making Abigail also drop to the ground.

Elizabeth and I rushed to her side. When we came into view of her body I stopped startled by the amount of blood.

"Abigail, Abigail! Can you move? Elizabeth is she breathing?"

Elizabeth lifted her upper body. "She's breathing."

I quickly examined her body. It looked like the titan only got her leg, almost all the way up to her waist. I looked back to see the titan starting to get up. We have to work quick. I grabbed her cape and started covering the wound.

"Don't, don't waist your time on me." Was the first thing Abigail said as she opened her eyes, blood trailing from her lips as she spoke.

"What do you mean? We can't just leave you here." I said as I finished tying the cape securely over the would.

"You can and you will. I won't let you risk your lives for a lost cause."

"You're no a lost cause and we aren't going anywhere without you!" Elizabeth shouted.

I stood with my swords in hand ready to defend my friends from the approaching titan. But looking at how it was already healed and standing much taller than us I grew afraid. You could see a small splatter of blood on the corner of its mouth from Abigail's leg. I was afraid of what might happen to me if I tried to attack it and failed. But...then what will happen if I don't attack.

"(Y/N), let's just run. We have to get Abigail help."

"We can't out run a titan!"

"There are enough trees around to maybe get away with our maneuver gear though we'll have to carry Abigail I think it's safest."

"No just leave me! Taking me with will only slow you down and put you both in more trouble." Abigail protested but there was no way we were leaving her behind.

I quickly turned away from the titan and grabbed Abigail, ignoring her protests as I held her the best I could while still being able to use my maneuver gear. Elizabeth followed as I took off in the air away from the titan.

We continued through the trees until we were sure no titans were near. We stopped and laid Abigail down so I could also rest for a moment.

"Why can't you listen to me! Bringing me will only cause problems!" Abigail shouted trying to bring herself up on one leg probably so she could slap me around hoping that will put some sense into me.

"I don't want to hear anymore of that! We are not leaving you and we never will! We are going to return alive, all tree of us! Even if I have to rip your souls from heaven and stuff them back in your body!"

There was a second of silence before a soft chuckle sounded. It was Abigail's beautiful light-hearted chuckle. She was crying but laughed at what I said. "I'm serious, it's not funny. I'll slap God in the face and take you back myself." I started to smile as I said that. Elizabeth started laughing softly as well.

When our moment came to an end Abigail spoke up again. "Thank you." She said wiping her tears away. "I shouldn't be giving up so soon. I may have lost a leg but The doesn't mean I'm done fighting yet, right? We're all going to make it home. Tomorrow we're going to wake up and laugh together while eating breakfast."

"Right." Elizabeth and I nodded full of hope again.

"Let's go." We lifted up Abigail by the arms and helped her get used to walking on one leg as we made our way to find other soldiers for help.
