Thinking about what Stevie had suggested, Lindsey sat back to nurse his headache, wishing that she was willing to go to rehab on her own. He knew that his girlfriend, Cheri, would have a fit, most likely never agreeing to it but she was just as bad off as him. It seemed to be whatever level he was on, he'd find the perfect woman to immaculate with, now realizing once again that Stevie was his perfect woman. No matter what the consequence was or what type of lives they were living, it always brought them back full circle, going through similarities that only they could understand. Lindsey was so in love with her still and it was obvious that she loved him, too, but was this just another disguise as a fake blessing?
Walking in to Stevie's bedroom where her mother sat near, rubbing her daughter's back, Lindsey joined them. "I'll do it."
Barbara wasn't sure to what he was speaking of, looking at him then at Stevie, waiting for some sort of confirmation to what was going on.
"You will...?" asked Stevie, sitting up and walking on her hands and knees to get to the end of the bed. She placed her hands on to his shoulders as he turned his head around to face her, nodding. They embraced.
"Just what are we speaking of?" Barbara questioned, wanting in on their secret.
"Mama, Linds is going to..." then wondering if she should keep that to themselves, Lindsey giving his hand a wave to let her know that it was okay to continue, "...detox with me."
"Detox? Lindsey?" wanting to know just what he would have to detox from.
"Yeah," running a hand over his face with a sigh, "...I'm going to enter a rehab with Stevie so we can give each other mutual support. I'll start looking around and searching for the best place, then we can start from there."
Barbara was beyond grateful, holding her hands up to her mouth as her eyes glistened with tears, reaching for Lindsey as he took her in to his arms. "I just knew that you could help. Oh, God bless you."
"There's nothing that I wouldn't do for your daughter, Mrs. Nicks."
She took his face and gave him a lingering kiss, always thinking of him as a son as she then wrapped her arms around Stevie, pulling them both near.
Being that Stevie wanted to be so private about this, afraid of what the press or fans may think, Lindsey went out of his way to pay for a private jet, taking them to a remote area of California to enter a rehabilitation center. This wasn't going to be easy because Lindsey knew that not only would she be suffering but so would he, wondering now if it was a mistake as he escorted the very disguised Nicks in to the plane while a doctor greeted them. Everything that Lindsey asked for was even way over his pay scale but he didn't care, he wanted what was best for Stevie and if she was in such a bipolar state, there was no way he was flying miles up in the air with her tantrums.
The doctor, Mr. Lawerence Gram, checked her over before they took flight, seeing how nervous and on edge she was so he allowed a light tranquilizer that had her falling asleep in Lindsey's arms. It made for a smooth expedition, landing in a rural airport where the three of them were whisked away in a black limosine, taken to a posh little rehab that gave Stevie memories.
Both of them were routinely checked over, separately talking with two different doctors so they could get down to their issues, educating themselves on their conditions and what tasks they'd have to accomplish for results. Lindsey never had to go through something like this so it was almost intrusive, Stevie already expecting it as she just allowed the doctor to do what he had to do. Only when they were given separate rooms did Stevie throw one of her fits, Lindsey having to pull her doctor to the side to explain his promise to her, him a tad weary at first but then allowing the two to share rooms while it wasn't normally accepted. Again, Lindsey would be paying out a large sum to get this to work.
