The unwanted side effects of Stevie's pregnancy were still at large, leaving her in bed most days as Lindsey never thought they would start to become so disconnected. She was absolutely way more emotional than she's ever been and that was quite the surprise, having known Stevie all these years and Lindsey witnessing some of her worst fits, though these were different and he felt at fault. It was him that caused this pregnancy but he wouldn't take it back for anything in the world, he just missed being close to the woman he loved.
Laying at Stevie's side as she napped, Lindsey propped up his head, lightly touching the side of her face as she was finally peaceful from this morning, having severe morning sickness. He had ran a cool cloth over her face after holding back her hair, Stevie acting ungrateful as she told him to stop pestering her. It broke his heart. This was turning in to something that he never expected. Only when she was asleep could he cherish her in the ways he wanted.
Lifting her shirt slightly, he touched her showing bump, now in her second month as he let the tips of his fingers touch her skin, giving a slight smile from his pride. She stirred, causing Lindsey to take back his hand as she then opened her eyes, feeling the breeze as she pulled down her shirt, looking at him as he was almost afraid to look back.
"What are you doing?" asking him as she knew he'd been the one to lift her shirt.
"Nothing, I was just admiring you is all."
"Oh."
"Stevie, I was thinking about going for a walk. Would you like to join me? I think it would do you some good to get out of the house."
She shook her head. "No, sorry, I want to make sure that I am close to a bathroom." Her bladder was not her friend lately.
He nodded, "Okay..." sitting up as he was disappointed. "You know, I really miss us."
"What do you mean?"
"You know, us," holding up his hands. "We used to be so happy and loving towards each other, now I feel as if I'm a burden and I don't think that's fair."
"We've been over this, Linds, I don't feel good. You heard what the doctor said, some women experience pregnancy harsher than the others."
"I know," running a hand over his face. "I guess I just wish you would try to get out of bed more."
"Really? You're going to sit there and speak like that when you don't even know what it's like to be pregnant?"
"I'm sorry, that's not what I meant."
"Well what did you mean?"
"Nothing," swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "I'm going to go for that walk, I won't be gone long," standing as he left the room, Stevie closing her eyes as she laid an arm across her forehead.
While Lindsey took his walk, Stevie was disturbed by a ring at the front gate, pressing the button on the intercom as she sighed. It was the gardener, letting him in as she went back to resting, only remembering that this would be the day he'd trim the bushes, scrambling towards the bedroom window as she looked out in to the yard. No, he was trimming Robin's memorial! She'd forgotten to inform him to NEVER touch that rose bush, wanting to be the only one to adhere to it as she started running down the stairs to the back door.
"Stop!" she screamed as she power walked towards the younger man. "I said, stop, please don't touch that bush!" tears in her eyes, emotionally distraught.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Nicks, what did I do?"
"No, no, no," picking up all the roses he had trimmed, gathering them in her hands. "This bush is to never be touched, do you understand me?!" holding the partially dead flowers to her chest.
