"Lindsey, I need you - right now!" ordered Connie as Stevie's water broke. She was finally in her ninth month and absolutely miserable, spending days upon days in bed.
Running up the stairs from the kitchen, Lindsey stumbled in to the room, almost falling right in to Connie, Stevie screaming out in agony. "What's going on?! What can I do?!", panicked Lindsey as Connie began undressing Stevie.
"You're going to help me get her up out of this bed!" she answered, placing a large protective covering down across the carpeting.
"Well, what do you mean?! I haven't even lit the candles yet!"
"Lindsey, she doesn't need the candles! She needs YOU!" pulling Stevie's legs over the side of the bed and helping her sit up. "It's okay, sweetie, we're going to get you through this," Connie said softly as she touched Stevie's sweaty face. She denied anything close to an epidural and decided on going completely natural, that making the pain a hundred times worse!
"I'm right here, angel," Lindsey said as he knealt down in front of Stevie, pulling her hair back and kissing the side of her face. He was directed to slide his arms up underneath hers and lift her up out of bed, helping her stand so she could walk over to the area set for the delivery.
"Oh, Linds, it hurts so much," crying as he held her naked trembling body in his arms. "Make it stop, Lindsey, make it stop!" crying in to his chest as he felt once again at fault. He has never seen her act so helpless.
"I love you, Stephanie, and I'm right here," holding her close as he sat down on the chair, having Stevie sit down on to his lap to slide down his knees. She was directed to bend her knees and crouch, his knees being support as he held her underneath her arms.
He was so lost at what to do, almost frightened over the whole situation, still wishing that she would have given birth in a hospital instead of her own home. At least Connie knew exactly what to do and assured him that it would be safe, that she could deliver with out certain medical attention. Most of the time the women in the hospital gave birth in the wrong way, laying down on their backs, that not being proper since gravity could not do it's job.
"Alright, Stevie, sweetie," began Connie as she put on some protective gloves, everything set to deliver the child as she entered Stevie with a hand. "Oh, yes, this baby is definitely coming. Are you ready to meet your baby, Stevie?" watching her nod as Lindsey nodded in unison. It was adorable how Lindsey tried answering the questions for Stevie.
Once Stevie began to push, blood and other fluids covered the protective padding below, Lindsey having to look away as it made him white in the face. He could only use his imagination to understand exactly what Stevie was going through, lovingly kissing the back of her neck as she started to cry. "You are doing so good, Stephanie. I will not let anything happen to you."
"Make it stop," Stevie begged again, sobbing uncontrollably as she could barely even see, screaming while her legs trembled. She'd hoped the baby would slip right out after the issue with her cervix, that clearly not the point now, having to take a short break from pushing as she sat back on Lindsey's legs. "I want my mother," leaning her head back on to Lindsey's shoulder.
"Okay, baby, okay," rubbing her belly and then looking at Connie. "Will you please call Stevie's parents?"
"Honey, I don't think we're going to have time to wait for them," answered Connie as Stevie only cried harder. "Okay, I'll do it - I will call your mother right now!" heading to the phone and dialing the number on the pad of paper, informing her parents that she was in the middle of giving birth and was asking for them.
"I didn't know it was going to be like this," said Stevie as Lindsey held her tight, kissing her shoulder. "I'm sorry, Linds."
"Don't say things like that, Steph, I'm so happy. You've made me so happy," running the back of a hand over the side of a breast. He held her and loved on her while her parents made their way to the house, Connie checking her cervix again.
