2 months later...

I won a trip to Bora Bora? I stared blankly at the wall as the woman behind the phone kept explaining it to me. All of those signing up for random trips and I actually won one. I laughed. No way.

"Am I being pranked?" The woman laughed hysterically.

"No, I'm afraid not. This is Emery Jane, am I correct?" I nodded. When she didn't say anything, I realized that I hadn't replied to her question.

"Oh. I'm sorry, yes. This is Emery Jane, the one and only. Wait. There are probably other women out there named Emery Jane- wait, or men too, you know. I can't just assume because when you ASSume, you make an ass out of yourself. Haha. But yes, I am Emery Jane. Seattle resident-"

"Okay. Miss. Calm down. Your trip for two weeks leaves to Bora Bora in two days. Congratulations. Your ticket will be sent to you today," she said. I grinned.

"Thank you so much! Have a great day," I shouted excitedly before slamming the phone back down on accident. I winced.

"Oh. Sorry phone!" I ran into my bedroom, grabbed the largest suitcase I could find and started packing like I was never coming back. Imagine how awesome that would actually be. I think I may have went a little overboard with all of this packing but it was better to do it sooner rather than later.

Two days passed by quickly and as soon as I had arrived at the airport, a man dressed in a black suit was there to take me. My ticket and where I was staying was all paid for and all I had to do was feed myself, which I couldn't wait to do in fact. People were slowly boarding the plane as I did too and I had brought my stuff to set on top of me when one of the flight attendants tapped on my shoulder. Turning around, I was met with this pretty redhead with freckles and a grinning face.

"Oh. Hello," I said to her.

"Are you Miss Emery Jane?" She asked in a polite voice. I hesitated for a second there.

"Uh.. Yes. How can I help you?" I inquired as I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I was a little freaked at how she wouldn't stop smiling at me. Okay, you can stop. She was like a freaking fairy or something.

"Well, we were asked to offer you a seat in first class just now, so would you please follow me?"

"Wait-"

"It wasn't really a request. There's a passenger who does not have a seat due to a mishap, so we offered them this one since you would be seated in first class anyways. Follow me," she told me as I watched her walk towards the front. I groaned as I lifted my heavy suitcase again and wheeled it towards the front.

"I'll take it if she doesn't want it," I heard a man laugh. I rolled my eyes as I continued walking towards the front. The curtain was held open by the same woman and I walked inside to find exactly what I thought first class would look like. Fancy private leather chairs with walls surrounding it, small tv monitor screens above it and a very small amount of people. In fact, there was only about ten of us in total. I took a seat near the corner where everyone else was further away from me. As I set the suitcase above me again, I grabbed my headphones and listened to music as we were about to take off.

I have flown once in my life but I still think we could crash no matter how safe they assure me that it was. It's not really a phobia of mine but I'm afraid of heights.. Sort of. Yet at the same time, I couldn't help but look outside as the plane took off the ground. I fell asleep after taking my sleeping pills and I was relieved to have landed after nearly ten hours on the plane. We had arrived at ten in the morning and the sun was out as I couldn't help but stare at the crystal blue water that surrounded me.

I entered the main lobby at the resort as many people were walking pass each other with their chattering voices going off of one another. The line got shorter by the minute and before I knew it, it was my turn.

"Hello. Are you here to check in?" I nodded as I handed her the card I was asked to give. I waited as she typed on the computer and shortly turned back to me.

"What resort did you get for your stay?" She asked me.

"The overwater bungalows," I replied. I watched the woman shake her head.

"It says that you have one of the private special suites so here's your key," she said as she handed me a card. I stared, confused at her, before I eventually grabbed it and went to wherever it was. First the plane and now this. I mean I was thankful for it but this seemed unreal. Nothing good ever happened to me, especially right in a row.

Wow. I was staying at this private house that was sitting upon the ocean. As soon as I had opened the door, I walked into the living room with glass floors that showcased the fish swimming underneath it and the leather couch was by the large two windows and flat screen tv. As I walked into the bedroom, there was a mix of white and maroon on the bed as sheer curtains laced the canopy top. Candles were set on the small table beside the bed and a few matches to light them up. First thing's first, I'm going to go eat.

I had finished taking a hot shower as I dried my hair and then pulled on a white dress that met my knees and clung loosely on my body. It was very thin too. I had lit up all of the candles and set them on the table and ground as it was my only light source. I could have turned on the lights but this was more beautiful. I could hear the sound of the waves meeting the shore as if it was long lost lovers. The sound of their hug and embrace from their time spent apart. The waves found the shore and collapsed into each other just before they were eventually separated again. They will always find their way back though.

Always.

My hair was in waves and cascaded down the back of my dress as I had finished putting on lotion and grabbed my book from my suitcase. Sirena by Donna Jo Napoli. It was about this mermaid named Sirena and its story is truly beautiful. She hated how her voice drew men to their death, so she abandoned herself from her sisters because of their wrong doings. She was afraid that her voice would only kill the men and she needed to fall in love with a mortal to become one. Then she saved a man named Philoctetes from dying due to a shipwreck and being bitten by a serpent and they fall in love. In the end, he chooses to leave and fight a war that she cannot be involved in and promises to return. The last page is of their last kiss & departure and the rest is up to us to determine what could have happened. Did they get their happily ever after? Or was fate too cruel and had them separated because it was for the best?

I have read the book two times before already and so I decided to just place it back in my suitcase for now. Walking to the kitchen, I grabbed a glass and searched through the wine cooler as I found an old bottle, 1987 Vin. Taking a sip of it, I felt the wind blowing in my face as the two-doors welcomed it inside. I swirled it in my mouth and swallowed it but it left a bitter and burning taste that was terrible. Yuck! People like to drink this stuff? No thank you, I rather stick to orange juice please. I walked over to the sink and rinsed my mouth as I poured the glass of the wine down the drain.

"I told you that you could never handle your drinks." My whole entire body froze as shivers danced along my spine, goosebumps rose along my arms and legs and the cool air hit my hot skin. I could practically hear my heart beating faster, quickening as I slowly turned around. He was dressed in jeans that fit him perfectly and a white tee shirt that hugged his muscles. I missed his dark eyes and hair as my eyes trailed to meet them. Of course he was just as perfect as he was two months ago.
