It's a chilly Sunday night, and the Teenagers, along with Alyssa, our friend Kenny Bobo, and I are at my house, watching New York Local Vocals. Ever since the drama revolving around Billy possibly going solo began, Jimmy decided to have Kenny on "standby" just in case Billy really was going solo. "Some of these singers who aren't signed to record labels really should be signed to record labels," Kenny says, taking a sip of his soda. Nodding in agreement, Herman responds "I agree with you." Then, I turn my head, look at the TV, and hear Andrew say "Up next, after the commercial break, we have a local artist who's been signed to the Diamond Records label!" Alyssa's eyes widen, and she exclaims "He just said Diamond Records! What if Billy really is leaving the Teenagers?"
A few minutes later, after my friends and I have grabbed some more bottles of soda, we plunk back down on the couch and near the TV. New York Local Vocals comes back after the brief commercial break. The other members of the Teenagers, along with Alyssa, Kenny, and I, are intently staring at the TV screen, waiting to see if we can find Billy. Then, Andrew announces the thing that the other Teenagers, Alyssa, Kenny, and I didn't want to hear: "Now, this local talent has recently signed to the Diamond Records label. Tonight, he will be singing the A-side of his first release with Diamond Records. With "She Didn't Invite Me," here is Billy Lobrano!"
"I went down to my baby's house
Hopped on the elevator
Up to the sixteenth floor
Out of the elevator
Walked around the corner
Straight to my baby's doorI knocked one, two, three, four
On the very last knock she opened the door
And I walked in
Where I shouldn't oughta beenShe was having a party
Yeah, my baby had a party
Yeah, my baby had a party
But she didn't invite me, ohThere was
Alyssa, Jimmy, ol' gossipin' Herman
Sittin' in the corner
Were Sherman, Joe, and Kenny
And I got mad
Mad as I could beYeah, my baby had a party
But she didn't invite meWell, I went out of my baby's house
Back on the elevator
Down to the lobby floor
Out of the elevator
Steamin' like a radiator
Straight outta the front doorShe was having a party
My baby had a party, now
Yeah, my baby had a party
But she didn't invite meShe was having a party
But she didn't invite meYeah, my woman had a party
But she forgot to call meYeah, my baby had a party
But she didn't invite me""So it was true! Billy is leaving us!" Joe exclaims. Then, my friends and I turn to face the TV, and we hear Andrew say "Good job, Billy! Now, I heard you mention your group-mates when you sang." Billy then responds "Yes, I mentioned my group-mates in this song. I've been planning to start a solo career for a long time, Andrew. Ever since the release of "Good Love," I've been wanting to do a solo tune. One day, I was lucky enough to meet someone from Diamond Records, and I signed a contract that same day." "Alright! Well, I wish you luck in your solo career, Billy. Once again, give it up for Billy Lobrano, everyone!" Billy... What the actual hell?
Joe stands up and exclaims "We've been backstabbed, Jimmy! What do you think about this?" Jimmy groans, stands up, and angrily replies "Well, it goes without saying, but Billy is no longer a part of the Teenagers!" Sighing, I say "Well, welcome to the group, Kenny." "Thanks," Kenny simply responds. Alyssa yawns and says "Well, this is shocking. I'm gonna head to bed now, Shermie." "I'm coming to bed with you. I am extremely tired," I respond, walking up the stairs. Well, this is a shock. What will Billy's reaction be when he learns he is no longer a part of the Teenagers?
