It's The New Year (Part 1)

Holy cow- it's New Year's Eve! Currently, my group-mates and Alyssa, along with Rin, Billy, and Andrew, are at Herman's house, preparing to ring in the New Year. "Something seems up with Rin. She seems very distant," Andrew tells me as he sips a Pepsi. Nodding in agreement, I respond, "I've noticed that, too." At that moment, Rin appears, and she looks like she's worried about something. "C'mon, Rin! Where's your jovial spirit? It's the New Year, so show off your cheery side!" Alyssa exclaims. Rin sighs, saying "I just need to be alone for a while" before walking to the kitchen. Andrew stops playing his harmonica, and looks toward the kitchen. Billy also looks concerned. Then, Andrew stands up, says "I gotta go find out what's with Rin," and walks into the kitchen. Quickly, I glance around the room, stand up, and walk over near the kitchen.

I slyly lean up against the wall, hoping to figure out just what the hell is wrong with Rin. As I eavesdrop, I overhear Rin tell Andrew "I know I'm pregnant! I've had all the typical symptoms, dammit! Last time, I only said I was pregnant so Paul Anka would stay with me; however, this time, I'm legitimately pregnant. However... I don't know whose it is." Andrew says "Rin, darling, don't you worry! You'll get through this; trust me! Ever since we met, I've been your rock!" "I know. Just don't tell Billy," Rin frustratedly says. She then adds "Andrew, I need to change my life. This means no more hooking up with random semi-famous guys and breaking people's hearts. I've gotta turn my life around... For once, I've gotta be nice." After that statement, Rin leaves the kitchen, with Andrew leaving the kitchen a few seconds later. "I knew this would happen. Rin should've seen this coming, but she didn't. Her lies and unfaithfulness have led to this," Andrew whispers. Suddenly, everything clicks in my mind. Oh my god, Rin's... Oh my god.

A short time later, my friends and I are gathered in the living room, listening to Andrew play his harmonica. "Gosh, he can carry a good tune," Alyssa whispers. Smiling, I nod, and Andrew says "C'mon, y'all- let's reflect on what's happened this past year!" Rin pipes up, saying "Y'all may not know this, but Alyssa and I share a common bond- her and I are both college students who are originally from the future. I'm eternally grateful to be here; I'm sure Alyssa is, too. I may have found love and I may have broken some hearts- however, that's life, my friends. Here's to our endeavors this coming year. May we all change for the better!" Applause erupts from my friends. When it calms down, Billy chimes in. He says "I know, Rin. Meeting you has made my life better." I smile, and I look at Alyssa. Who would've thought that Alyssa and Rin were from the future? That's something I never knew.
