After a couple months of being in Toronto, Nicki and Drake settled into their new home quite nicely. Drake got to reconnect with his old friends and Nicki fit right in, all of them making her feel comfortable and welcome making the lives they use to live seem like nothing but distant memories.
After inheriting the money his mother left him in the correct monthly allowances, Drake used most of it to just take care of Nicki. He'd bought her a nice apartment suited for the two of them, it wasn't too big or too expensive, but he knew that she loved it because they could finally have a place just for them like they'd always talked about. There was enough space for him to work and do all the different projects he'd planned and was pleased to see Onika do nothing but smile all day long. He even got a couple things planned for her as well, but was willing to wait on them until after she graduated.
Then a day came where the phone rang and it was a call from their school saying that they needed to come and clear out their lockers and complete some necessary paperwork if they didn't plan on returning, stating that the spaces were needed for new students who were coming to the school. Drake had asked Nicki if she even wanted to go, or if he should just call back saying that they should just throw all their things away. She thought about it for a moment but decided that they both needed closure from that chapter of their lives so Nicki chose to go. She explained to him that if they didn't do this the thought of what they left behind would begin to gnaw at them sooner or later and that clearing their lockers and going to see old family membered would help them stay happy where they. Drake liked this idea and called the school back letting them know when they would be arriving, choosing a day where he had business to tend to in New York anyways.

When the day in question finally came Nicki woke up and didn't even notice the bed empty, her mind focused on what could happen in the day ahead. She brushed her teeth, showered and got dressed, the only thing on her mind being the memories of the torment she'd endured while walking the halls of that prison like building.
While getting dressed, Nicki decided to keep her outfit simple and light but still had a bit of the intention to impress her old peers and show that she was more than just that nerdy girl they all either ignored or picked on. She looked herself over in the mirror after brushing her hair and turned so her side was facing the mirror.
As she looked at her reflection, she remembered listening to the girls make fun of her.

"Can you believe she's dating him now? I didn't think it was possible for her to become even more of a loser than ever before." one of them said, Nicki could see through the shut stall door as she wiped her tears that it was of course, Alicia with her two followers Mya and Yvette. They stood at the mirror as the ever classic, overly done, and stereotypical popular girls did, fixing their heavy makeup and fluffing up their hair while fixing their clothes and jewelry. They were the girls that never had books or backpacks, and if you asked them for a pencil more often than not, they'd hand you one for your eyes instead of one for your test.
