Light Down Backstage

He could see her figure move closer and closer to him. She was hard to ignore. Even though her stature could get her lost in a crowd, her presence was one that commanded the attention of everyone in the room. Her thick hips swung and swayed gracefully from side to side as she sauntered past, getting stares and glances from almost every man, some trying to be discreet while others showed no shame and burned their gazes into her making his blood boil. Usually he'd love when others would stare at her, reminding the world that what he had was better than anyone else but right now that wasn't the case.

Even with at least twenty pairs of eyes on her body, she could feel only his eyes bore into her, using a stare that was made her knees weak so she kept her head down as she took steady, equal steps, trying to give the illusion of a calm and indifferent disposition. Four years of training to be a actress has its advantages. Lying, manipulation, and pseudo emotions just to name a few.

Nicki moved past Drake like he wasn't even there only infuriating him even more but took a silent, deep inhale of his cologne to calm her nerves a bit. He let out a "calming" breath and attempted to collect his thoughts racing thoughts before screaming at the top of his lungs. He was tired of her being that way towards him, so cold and unfeeling when he knew that inside she was hurting just like he was.

After a big blowup between them a year ago, she was still holding a grudge but he couldn't blame her for that. He broke his promise to her after she gave him everything she could, it damaged her, it damaged them. And after not having her in his life, he numbed the pain of her absence with whatever he could, while she just threw herself into heavier and heavier workloads to try and keep their minds off the other. It would work every now and again but when you lay in a cold bed knowing someone could be there beside you, makes you weary.

She could feel a tear burn her eye but blinked it away and continued forward. She'd already spent weeks crying over him, when no one was looking that is, keeping her emotions locked away from view of those who cared, worrying everyone even more.

Only a few seconds later she felt his presence behind her as she moved about the hall. He grabbed her hand and Nicki instantly felt the shock of his soothing warm touch shoot through her arm, up and down her spine, and through every nerve in her body. Her heart began to beat erratically to the point where she thought that he could hear it and snatched her hand away from his. It was silent for a moment and they both stood almost frozen in shock garnering a few stares. He moved first when he noticed people were staring.

"Nic, may I speak to you in private please?" Drake asked but Nicki knew that he wasn't asking her and she began back down the hall, not even looking at him. "Onika, come here now." He said in a more firm and stern tone letting Nicki know that he didn't want to have to repeat himself. She stopped dead in her tracks was ready to turn and almost run to him but stopped herself. Nicki hated this hold he had on her, it was like he had total control over her.

Nicki felt his presence behind her and she spoke. "I have to be on stage so no, and do not speak to me like I'm a child, I'm older than you are." She scoffed and he rolled his eyes.

"Your set isn't for another twenty minutes and if you dont want me to speak to you like you're a child, don't act like one. " Drake reminded and she sighed before feeling his hand grip her arm and pull Nicki into her dressing room, the sound of the door shutting and being locked soon followed. She didn't know why she let him take her in such a way but she was never one to object to him unless completely necessary, then again, he never acted in such a way before.

That was one aspect of their relationship, on a list with maybe other things that she couldn't understand. Drake was the only man that she ever let treat her in such a way. Have such a dominating role even when she swore she'd never let a man have such dominance over her.
