The Hunger Games - Second Quarter

I stared at Katniss, she had sweat on her forehead and what looked to be dirt. She was panting, her grip was still tight on her bow.
"Thanks." I spoke breaking the silence. Katniss rushed over to me and embraced me into a hug. She smelt like trees, she must've been in the rainforest earlier.
"How did you know to come in here?" I asked.
"Brandon Brown, from 10 practically forced me here, he said you were in trouble. Guess he was right." She replied.
"Where's everyone else?" I ask, "Where's Gale?"
"In the forest." She says. She took a minute observing the room before she spoke again, "we should leave."
I followed her out of the building, the bright sun blinded my eyes. There were no tributes around at the time but I still stuck close to Katniss. She looked back at me and smiled, "it'll be okay"

"So you hold the bow like this" Katniss says showing me how to hold the bow. She passes it to me, "you try."
I had just turned 10 and Katniss promised to teach me how to hunt. Prim had declined the offer, she preferred to stay home with mom. I think she's learning medicine.
I take the bow from Katniss and hold it how she showed me, "like this?" I ask.
Lifting my elbow she says, "perfect. Now aim, let go of the arrow and follow through."
I aim for a tree a few feet infront of us and let go of the arrow. The arrow flies and misses the tree.
"I can't do this!" I groan.
"Yes you can, you just need practice." Katniss says.
I hear a loud crackling sound, almost like fire burning trees down.
"Oh no." Katniss says looking to the sky. "Run."
"What?"
"Run!"
Katniss grabs my hand and throws us into a bush. She puts her fingers to her lips signalling silence. The crackling gets louder and I realize that it's a hovercraft.
"Katniss I'm scared." I say quietly.
She looks over her shoulder and gives me a smile, "it'll be okay."

I am so sorry for no updates lately, I lost the list I had of all the tributes and it's been hard to figure it all out again but I'll try to get back to regular updates once I make another list :)
