We had just finished up with our last training day and were moving onto to private assessments for our scores. The room we were in was cement and it was cold, I had goose bumps. There was only a few more people left to do their assessments before district 12 would be called.
"Hey Elsa." Phoebe says sitting next to me.
"Hi." I reply quietly.
"Nervous?" She asks.
"Can you tell?" I reply
"Goosebumps." She points at my arm.
"I'm really cold." I say.
Her mouth forms an O form.
I nod my head.
"Phoebe Willows, District 10." A voice on the speakers announces.
"That's me." She says getting up, "Hey, good luck." she smiles walking away.
"She seems two faced." Gale says leaning over.
"Remind you of anyone?" I reply smugly.
"What's up with you?" He asks.
"Allez vous faire foutre" I replied getting up and changing seats.
"English please." Gale says.
The room had fallen silent as time passed and more tributes left.
"Elsa Everdeen, District 12." The person over the speaker called.
"Good luck." Katniss said flashing me a smile.
"You too." I replied. My voice had sounded cold, I wondered if she had noticed how cold it sounded, how heartless it sounded. I hoped she hadn't.
The game makers watched as I strode towards the knife section. I never went over what I was going to do during my assessment, "I'm going to wing it." I had told Haymitch. I regret that now.
I picked up a knife and made my way over to the targets and started throwing them. I did a roll and threw and then some other fancy things I had learned from observing other tributes in training. Maybe that's why everyone told me not to show off during training, because people could learn things from you. They could learn how you fight, what your weaknesses were, what your strengths were and they could use them against you.
I just left the room when I was done, I didn't look at them, I didn't acknowledge them. I just left. What was happening with me?
