I stood from the table, gathering the scripts in my arms. "You ready, Mitch?" Avi asked, moving towards me. "Always," I replied, smiling.
"Have you had a chance to look over all the resumes I gave you?" He questioned, moving with me out of the room.
I had been invited to join the main crew to read over the scripts, to prepare for the filming to start. Now that everyone approved of the scripts, Scott and Kirstin would get them. It was crazy to believe that just a month ago we had finished filming the Pilot episode. There was still some work to be done before we could actually start filming, but everything was underway.
Now that I had read over the scripts, my job was to start planning make up and hair ideas for the show, including Dean, Samantha, and all monsters. While I did that though, I also had to build my team. There was no way I would be able to do the whole show by myself.
"Not yet," I told Avi. "But that's the plan for today. I have time so I'm gonna read through all of them, and send you the resumes I prefer."
"Perfect," he commented, smiling. "We're thinking three for the hair side of your team, and one or two for the makeup side."
"And if they have my kind of experience?" I asked, curious. It would be fun to work with someone who also dabbled in hair as well as makeup.
"I'd say put them under hair," Avi told me. "So they can help with makeup if the need comes up."
"Perfect," I commented. "I will email you my choices tomorrow."
"Great," Avi said, moving away. "Can't wait to see who you pick!"
I waved, moving out of the room, just as my phone rang. Taking a look at the caller ID, I laughed as I saw that Scott was calling me. I laughed softly, answering the phone. "Hi there."
"Hey! How was the meeting?" I laughed again, moving to my car. "It was great. We went over a lot."
"And?" He pushed.
"And, Avi is sending you and Kirstin the scripts tomorrow," I told him, a wide smile on my face.
"Yes!" He cried, making me laugh again. "So, are you free for lunch today?"
It had almost been unspoken, but as we all prepared for the filming to start, Scott and I got together for lunch once a week. It was nice that we both lived in LA, so every week we switched off on who picked where lunch was. It gave us the chance to introduce the other to our favorite places. And really, I loved spending the time with him.
"Sadly, I'm not," I told, feeling bad about my answer. "I have resumes to read over by tomorrow, and I need to start planning hair and makeup for the filming."
"Sounds fun," He replied.
"Hopefully," I agreed. "But I will try to finish as fast as I can."
"Don't rush for me, okay?" Scott told me. "Once we start filming I'm sure we'll have tons of time together." I couldn't help but smile as I replied, "True. But still, we should get lunch before we start this crazy filming process."
"I can agree to that," he told me. "We'll just have to see how this all goes then, huh?"
"I guess so," I agreed. "Let me know when you start reading the scripts, too. They're really great, and I'd love to see what you think."
"Oh, for sure! Once I start reading them, I want to know what you think," Scott replied.
"Well, I think that sounds like a pretty good conversation for lunch," I commented.
"You're right!" he cried, making me laugh. "Well, I'll let you get back to your apartment. I'll text you later, okay?"
I grinned, unlocking my car. "That sounds perfect."

"This is Mitchell."
"Mitch! It's Avi."
"Hi!" I cried, grabbing a towel and pausing in my dishwashing mission."What can I do for you?"
"Well I wanted to talk to you about a few different things," he said.
"Shoot."
"First, I went over the resumes you sent me, and from the background checks, everything is in order," he told me. "It's up to you if you want to meet them before we start filming though."
"I'm sure we can find some time before it gets busy," I commented.
"I figured, but you're officially their boss now. They report to you, then me."
"Still hard to believe I'm a manager now," I muttered. "It fits you," Avi said.
Laughing softly, I replied, "Thank you. What else did you want to tell me about?"
"Well, we know where we're filming now," he told me. "Vancouver."
"In Canada?" I asked.
"Yes," he answered. "We have access to a lot of supplies, and some good areas for sets too."
Sighing, I nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense. I should have expected filming to be somewhere remote."
"Yeah, I wanted to let you know sooner rather than later," Avi informed me.
"Thanks.""No problem. Now, I get to tell Scott and Kirstin."
"Oh! I'm meeting with Scott in about an hour," I told him, glancing at the clock.
"Really? Do you mind telling him for me?"
"Oh, not at all," I replied. "Plus, we can work out a time to fly to Vancouver together."
"That sounds perfect," Avi said. "I'll let you know an exact date soon, okay?"
"Perfect. Can't wait to hear!" I cried, feeling the already present excitement growing inside me.
"Neither can I," he replied.

"Vancouver? Really?"
I laughed at Scott's face, nodding. "Yep. We get to film in Canada."
He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "Probably means I should make sure I know where my passport is."
I laughed again, noticing Scott laugh with me. "I should probably do that too, now that you mention it," I agree.
"How excited are you?" he asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"For what?" I asked, smiling. "You need to be a little more specific."
He chuckled, before saying, "All of this. I mean, Kirstin and I have worked on tv sets before. Movies too. But this is new to you."
Taking a deep breath, I thought over my answer. "It's a lot to take in," I replied. "And sometimes, now more than ever, it feels like I'm trying to keep up without really knowing what I'm doing, or what I need to be doing."
"I will tell you right now, you're doing great," Scott said, reaching over and placing his hand over mine. "It can be a lot to take in, I remember. But you're doing great, really. I have no doubt if this all moves on, past this season, Avi would want no one other than you with us."
I smiled, squeezing his hand. "Thank you, Scott."
"You are more than welcome," he replied.
