I slowly moved through the apartment, feeling Scott follow me closely. Everything was clean: the paint fresh, the furniture unbroken, the frames new, and more. After the landlord incident, Kevin had indeed called his father. His father, in all his protectiveness of his only so , threw a huge fit. He personally spoke to the landlord, and fixed everything that was a problem there. He had then called our insurance agency, and complained about the policy options we both had with renter's insurance. Then, he had even gone as far as hiring a contractor to repaint the walls in my room, so the writing wasn't visible at all. I suspected Kevin had spoken to him about how shaken up I was, and while it was very sweet and I didn't know how to thank him, I was grateful. He had even then gone another step further and paid for a better security system, with a camera outside every window and door of our apartment. If anyone ever tried to break in here again, they would be royally screwed.
My bed was now empty- no sheets, no comforter, no pillow cases, nada. It was a clean slate, one I was extremely grateful for.
I took a deep breath as I felt Scott's chest against my back, his arms wrapping around my waist.
"You alright?" Scott asked, his voice soft as he pulled me back against him.
"I will be," I replied, looking up at him. I smiled as I met his eyes."Because I have you here." His smile was instantaneous as he replied, "Yes, you do," he before leaning down and kissing me.

I chugged the glass down, slamming it against the table and throwing my arms up as everyone cheered.
Laughing, I stepped back. "Alright, I'm done for the night," I yelled over the party.
None of the group cared as Kevin cried, "Okay! My turn!"
Shaking my head, I moved through the crowd, memorizing every face I passed. The floor wasn't packed shoulder to shoulder luckily, but there were enough people that Ralph could sneak in if he wanted to. Not that he actually could, Kevin's father's company had better security than most parties did on New Years.
"There you are!"
I spun and smiled as Todrick stopped by me. "Hi!" I cried.
"Hoying is looking for you!" He yelled. "Where's Kev?"
"The bar!" I told him, pointing to the crowd gathered.
"Got it! Thanks!"
I laughed, looking around for Scott now. It felt strange being at such a big party, but when Kevin had heard his father was throwing a New Year's party, he had practically screamed. I had been invited instantly as well, since I was fairly close with both his parents.
And they had been sweet enough to give us both a plus one, so both boyfriends could come.I didn't know anyone at the party, which was strange at first, but it was still fun. Celebrating New Year's had always been a blast for me. It was a time when starting new wasn't frowned upon. It was a time when new was smiled upon, when new was welcomed with open arms. Maybe this year I would be able to fully walk away from Ralph
Looking around the room, I suddenly jumped as a hand clasped onto my wrist. Instantly, I spun around, bringing my free arm back, ready to meet their face with my fist.
"Woah!"
I froze as I saw Scott in the flashing lights of the dance floor, his hand holding my wrist. His eyes were wide as his his smile grew. "Nice reflexes, Da Vinci!"
"Oh god!" I cried. "I'm sorry!" My boyfriend laughed. "Don't apologize! Really!"
I let out a sigh of relief, smiling.
Moving closer to him, I yelled, "Toddy said you were looking for me!"
