Failure

I woke up, with a lot of pain in my arm. I tried to move it, but I couldn't, almost as if I forgot how to control my body. I looked around and saw that scientist guy who looked like he was from a movie, was gone. I heard people talking behind me. My body got up and growled a little. I couldn't move it or control it, I was just the brain.
This really sucks. Why couldn't the scientist have failed even more and so I could be able to just go home? I thought angrily. I knew his magical stuff that was supposed to change me into a horse didn't work, because I was definitely not a horse. I looked more like a zombie, or at least my arms and legs did. He said I wouldn't be very smart, but I was exactly the same as before. The scientist had failed. I happily thought about how the guy was going to come back and check on me and change me back into a human. I smiled, except that it was more like me imagining smiling, since I couldn't move this zombie's  body.
He turned his head towards the people talking, and suddenly I recognized the voices. I heard Avi, Kevin, and Kirstie! I didn't hear Scott, though, but when to zombie turned its head I saw him. They were all spread out and walking away from me.
The zombie followed them. He was really loud and cracked sticks a lot. I wanted him to go faster, and I got the idea I should figure out a way to force him brain to go somewhere else. I began to wonder how I could see out of his eyes.
I tried to scream or talk, but all the zombie did was growl. I tried to step on a stick really loudly, and he failed at that too. The only thing I got to work was making him follow them. I couldn't speed up or slow down, just follow them. The whole this was very frustrating for me.
A few times the zombie accidentally stepped on a few sticks. I saw Kirstie turn around and come to look, and if I could, I would have jumped for joy. Except I couldn't. Kirstie came and looked around, but the zombie hid behind a bush. She left and told the others she thought something was in the forest, somewhere behind them.
Avi and Kevin made her feel better, but Scott said nothing. Then I remembered that he probably thinks I'm dead and vowed silence. I would have done the same if Scott and I were switched. Scott looked my way, but all he saw was the bush the zombie was hiding in, otherwise he would have come over here.
They went home eventually, and the zombie went to sleep in a tree. I didn't sleep since I was a brain. I stayed awake the whole time and stared at darkness, since the zombie closed his eyes. It left a lot of time to think about what's happened.
I had a feeling the scientist guy was coming back to see the results of his test, but I had no idea when. I also knew Scott would come and look for me again, and would probably realize it was me and save me.
When the zombie woke up, it was already about noon. The day went by slowly, it was mostly the zombie looking for food and me learning how to control it. I figured out how to control his arm and a few of his fingers, I just had to concentrate enough. I also had to imagine his arm moving. I just couldn't seem to get his legs to move when I wanted them too.
When night fell, the zombie continued the search for food. I still was trying to make it text Kirstie and Scott on my phone, who were extremely worried about me, but I couldn't get the zombie to do anything when it wanted food. I gave up, and the zombie held my phone while it searched. Suddenly, in the distance. I heard the voice I had been wanting to hear.
"Mitch. WHY DID YOU LEAVE! WHY! COME BACK! I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU BY MY SIDE. Please..."
If I were myself, and I heard him say that, I would have been crying. It was really hard to cry though, just being a brain, so I imagined crying. I heard him running, and that's when the zombie turned its head and I saw him.
Scott.
Minus me.
Broken.
A puzzle with pieces gone.
I had to fix him.
I vowed to make him hear my voice again.
