He's Back

Mitch's Pov:
The day after I saw Scott, I tried to remember every little thing the scientist had said to me about the liquid that was supposed to change me into a horse. I then realized his name was Steven.
It didn't have anything to do with the situation, but I didn't want to refer to him as scientist. When I thought of scientist, I thought of nice people trying to save the lives of people that are sick, not someone who's trying to turn a human into a horse without any apparent reason.
The rest of that day I concentrated purely on trying to control my fingers without the zombie taking over. It was really tricky, but I ended up being able to write short sentences again. I was going to text everyone, but my phone case was in the way of some letters. Usually I would be able to reach them without a problem, but it was still hard to control my fingers.
I gave up in frustration and waited for night, when I hoped someone would come, Scott or the Evil Steven Wievenstein. The zombie climbed into a tree and slept a little, and then I began to hear noises. I thought I heard Scott's voice. I moved my fingers, happy that it was really easy since the zombie was sleeping, but it woke up and took control. I hated having to share MY body with a zombie, of all things in the world.
It turned around and I saw Evil Steve, as I called him, this time with the biggest needle I'd ever seen. It looked like a prop for a play or something, but the way the metal shined in the moonlight was too real.
He injected the liquid into my arm and I felt the searing pain spread from my arm to all over my body. After the pain slowly went away, I tried to control my fingers again, but found I couldn't, like the first night.
All of the sudden, Scott came out of nowhere and started to take the needle away from Evil Steve. I was very shocked, but also happy that Scott was here. The zombie didn't move, it just stared at them.
     "What are you doing?"
"What did you do to Mitch?" Scott said and I really wanted to scream because I hated not being able to communicate with Scott. I just decided to watch what was happening since I couldn't do anything else.
It was very hard to pay attention when Scott looked so concerned for me. His eyes were darting around and he stared into my eyes for a second. Eyes were the only thing I could fully control, so I moved them up and down, as if to say 'I'm not fully being taken over by this thing there's still hope'. I then realized my love for him. I told myself to think about it later began listening to them talk again.
"I'm turning him into another organism! Want to see?" Evil Steve said crazily.
"What?" Scott asked, and I guessed he was really confused about this.
"A horse in particular. Would you like to see the concoction I have made that is slowly turning him into a horse?"
     "Yes. Show me,"
"Come here tomorrow in this spot and I will show you my lab and all its amazingness. I'm going to be the best scientist ever," he said and Scott nodded, he was clearly just trying to get in Steve's science lab. I had no idea how Steve had missed the fact that Scott cared about me and actually didn't care about the scientific magic to the thing taking over my body. Steve was too obsessed with the thought of becoming the best scientist on earth.
"Tell me a bit about this, specifically all the chemicals involved in this special... Whatever that is," Scott said, pointing, and I wondered why he was trying to stretch out the conversation. I guess he just wanted all the information he could get.
Steve began blabbing abut stuff I didn't understand and Scott turned to me when Steve wasn't looking.
"Mitch. I know you're in there. Please, if you can hear me... Move your arm. Please."
The zombie tilted its head, and I began to concentrate.
Arm. Move. My arm will move from side to side. It can move.
My arm did nothing for a few seconds. I began to get frustrated until finally it moved. I relaxed my brain and saw Scott smile. That's what I wanted to see, Scott happy again. That's all I needed. He leaned in closer so Steve wouldn't hear.
"Mitchell Grassi, I know you're there and I mean this when I say, I will save you. Don't you worry, I've got this covered," he said and I saw a tear drop down his face. I began to concentrate again and my arm moved. Scott smiled a little, and turned back to the scientist.
"...And lots of other chemicals like that. See you here tomorrow night." With that, Steve left and Scott and I were alone in the cold and dark forest.
"Mitch, you can turn on your phone right?" Scott asked and I moved my arm into my pocket and took out my phone. I slowly moved my finger towards the home button, and the zombie tried to resist. I took over my finger and turned it on. I tapped in the password and went in the messages app.
"Do you feel.... Different than before?" Scott asked with a strange look on his face. I began to text him my answer. I had to make it short enough for me to type but long enough for Scott to understand what was happening me.
I texted this to Scott:
'It's hard to move when the horse zombie thing is taking over but my brain is the same.'
I silently thanked whoever made autocorrector because it saved me there. I sent the message and Scott read it on his phone.
"So you know it's me and you remember everything that's happened in your life? You remember it all?" Scott said out loud and I texted him 'Yes.'
"I don't really know what to ask now..." Scott said, and the zombie growled a bit.
"Does the zombie walk for you and growl?" He asked and again I said yes.
'He also moves my fingers but I try to take over sometimes. I only fully control my eyes.'
Scott nodded and yawned. I rolled my eyes and texted him again.
'Go to sleep, Scottie. I'll be fine. I'm not going anywhere.'
"What if that guy comes back and makes you even more like a zombie or horse or whatever, and I lose you?" Scott said, his eyes tearing up.
'The zombie will run now that it knows Steve will hurt me, and well, the zombie too.' Scott knit his eyebrows together, and I remembered he didn't know who Steve was.
'His name is Steven Wievenstein and he found me alone in the forest that night. He wouldn't let me go and injected me with the liquid. I fainted and woke up not able to control my body. I slowly regained control until he injected me again with the stuff. I'm now redoing all the work I spent these few days. It's easier now I know how.' That message took almost ten minutes to write and Scott peered over my shoulder for the first few minutes. He rested his head on my shoulder for the rest of it and when I finished the message he was snoring. I sent it and he woke up. He rubbed his eyes and read it. He nodded, and yawned for the 100th time.
'GO TO SLEEP SCOTT GO HOME IM FINEEE!' I texted him. He grabbed his backpack and began to get up.
"I'll be back tomorrow morning Mitchie. Please don't  leave. Stay alive. Stay away from Steven Wievenstein. Bye," he called to me as he walked back home. The zombie quickly fell asleep after, and I couldn't stop thinking about Scott's smile and the way he called me Mitchie. We always use nicknames for each other, but this time it felt more real. I loved him.
