Goldenpaw awoke as the Medicine cats were about to leave. She stood, stretched, then padded out of the den. Cinderpelt and Leafpaw were talking to Firestar at the entrance of the camp, so she quietly slipped into the Medicine Cat den to take some travel herbs. After she had pulled a portion out, she tied it up.
"What are you doing?" Goldenpaw recognized Squirrelpaw's voice behind her. "Um, Leafpaw showed me how to sort the herbs, and she wanted me to grab her some more for Cinderpelt before they left. You know, because of her leg. But don'e say anything, she doesn't want Cinderpelt to know that she worries." Goldenpaw lied. She hated lying to Squirrelpaw, but she knew she had to.
Squirrellpaw didn't look convinced, but she nodded and left anyway. Goldenpaw breathed a sigh of relief. She quickly picked up her herbs, and slid out of the den. The whole clan had gathered around the entrance to wish Leafpaw good luck, so Goldenpaw padded out the tunnel cats went to make dirt. The stench hit her with such a force that she almost dropped her herbs!
Shaking it off, she stepped outside. She was on the ledge above the camp, and she could easily see the entrance. Cinderpelt and Leafpaw walked out of the camp and into the forest. Goldenpaw slipped down and followef their scent.
After a while of walking, they crossed into WindClan terriory. Barkface, Mudfur, and Littlecloud joined them there and they continued their journey. Suddenly the wind changed and swept Goldenpaw's scent. Goldenpaw stiffened.
Leafpaw turned around. Why did she think she smelled Goldenpaw? Well she was helping her earlier, so she guessed that it was just her fur. The wind soon changed at the scent was gone. Goldenpaw sighed in relief that nobody caught her. Then she continued her quest to HighStones.

It wasn't long after that the cats reached HighStones. Goldenpaw saw that it was a big cave in a giant canyon. The medicine cats padded inside. Goldenpaw waited, and then followed them in. It soon grew so dark that she couldn't see. She walked for what seemed like moons until she finally saw a light ahead. She rushed to it, and emerged in a large room of silver stones. A hole was in the cave's roof, so moonlight shone down into the room.
The medicine cats were all asleep with their noses pressed against a large stone in the center of the room. Goldenpaw tried to find somewhere to touch her nose to it, but there was no room for her. She heard Leafpaw begin to stir, and she ran and hid behind one of the stones. The ThunderClan medicine cat stood and stretched. Then she began to search the room.
When she got to where Goldenpaw was hiding, she called out quietly. "Goldenpaw, StarClan told me you came. It's okay." Goldenpaw stepped out from behind the stone. "How? Why?" She asked. Leafpaw touched noses with her. "They told me that they were sending you away for a while. They said that it was a journey that you had to take alone, but that you needed my help. Follow me." Leafpaw said, and led Goldenpaw to a small stone that looked like the HighStone. "This is where Starclan want to speak with you. But I will be gone when you wake up." Goldenpaw touched noses with Leafpaw. "Goodbye, my friend. Don't ever forget me." Leafpaw whispered, then padded away.
Goldenpaw lay down and touched noses to the small stone. She was quickly pulled into a dream from StarClan.

Goldenpaw was standing in clan's camp. There was nothing that she recoginzed. All the scents were different too. Three Stary cats appeared in front of her. She saw Spottedleaf to the right of the cat in the front. The cat who looked like the leader began to speak. "Greetings, young apprentice. I am Bluestar, former leader of ThunderClan." Bluestar! This cat was the cat who had trained Firestar! "H-hello." Goldenpaw studdered. Bluestar purred. "Do not fear Goldenpaw, I shall not harm you." She meowed. Goldenpaw nodded. Bluestar motioned to the last cat. "I am Blazestar. I am not from any clan you know. But you are standing in my clan's camp." Goldenpaw looked at Bluestar with confusion in her eyes. Bluestar nodded. "He speaks the truth. There have always been more than four clans. There are eight. The sets of four stay away from each other, and know nothing about each other. Goldenpaw, your father isn't in ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan, or ShadowClan. You're father is in FireClan. Your mission is to find him." Bluestar said. More than four clans? FireClan? Is that even possible? Would StarClan lie? No. This was the truth. Goldenpaw nodded. "Where do I start?" She asked. "You must go to RiverClan. There is a cat there who will help you find this place. But be careful, if you tell the wrong cat about your mission, you will be killed." Spottedleaf said and then vanished. Blazestar touched his tail to the apprentice and then was gone. "Goodluck Goldenpaw. And remember, StarClan will always be with you." Bluestar said, and then disappeared.

Goldenpaw awoke back in the HighStone cave. She stood and stretched. The medicine cats were gone, just like Leafpaw said. There was still a little while before sunup, so Goldenpaw decided that she would stay here for the night. She lay down by the small stone, and fell into a deep sleep.
