Hypnosis

Chapter 8

Pit emerged from Palutena's dorm and continued down the hallway. Peach was talking with Link in the arcade.

The Angel walked in and got the Hylian hero's attention. "Hey Pit, how'd it go with Palutena?" he asked. Pit looked his way, "It's over..." Link and Peach smiled. "Oh that's great baby," Link threw his arms around Pit's waist and leaned in for a kiss. Pit cupped his hands over the other's lips, "No. We're over." The hero's eyes widened in shock. Pit slipped out from his grip and stood away.

Link looked for words as tear welled up in his eyes, "Wh-what did I do wrong?" Pit shook his head, "I never loved you..." "I loved you though. I tried to give you everything I could. What more did you need? Where did I go wrong!?" Pit stood and smiled, "Hhmm lets see. You're pathetic, weak, wear tights, and failed to satisfy my needs." Link reached out for Pit, "Please Pit what is it that you want. I can change...please don't leave." "You have nothing left to offer me! I hate you Link! You and your stupid face and phony holy sword can get out of my life!" The Angel reached into his white tunic and retrieved Link's necklace and threw it onto the ground. Pit walked out leaving a crying hero and a shocked Princess.

Peach leaned over and picked up the discarded jewelry. "Link are you going to be okay?" asked the Mushroom Princess. Link sobbed into his hands and shook his head, "Pit is my everything. He's all I had..." Peach pulled him into a hug and rubbed his back as Link cried onto her shoulder. "It's okay, Link. Listen how about we take you to your room and help you calm down?" Link stands straight and wipes the tears from his eyes best he could and nods. Peach holds his hand and leads him to his room. "Now you get dressed into something casual, no emotional healing  in your work clothes! I'll be right back." Link stands in his room with tears threatening to spill. He walks into his private bathroom and starts to undress.

Link looks at himself in the mirror, Pit's bracelet still on his wrist. His eyes puffy from crying, wet cheeks, and red nose. He looked, in his judgement, unattractive. He splashed water on his face and dried it with a towel. He unclipped the bracelet from his wrist and left it on the sink. He threw on a green muscle shirt and brown knee length shorts. He pulled his hair back into a small pony tail.

Knock.

Knock.

Link opened the door and in stepped Peach, who had changed from her lacy and frilly dress. "Hope you don't mind me changing. I didn't want you to feel underdressed," she smiled. She wore a pink baseball tee and mid thigh blue  shorts. Link nodded and closed the door behind her. Peach sat on his bed and pulled some items from her bag. "I'm going to help you out the best I know how!" Link sat on the bed too. The blonde woman held out a spoon for him and handed him a small pint of ice cream. "Peach, isn't this a bit of a break up...cliché?" Peach shrugged, "Ice cream helped me through my break up..." Link popped open the lid, "Break up? With who?" Peach popped open her own pint and spun her spoon around, "Ol' 'let's a-go!'" Link snickered.

"Enough about me. To truly get over Pit you need to let all the talk about him come out. Talk about the relationship, it's best to cry now instead of later in bursts," Peach instructs. Link swallowed a spoonfull, "Well for the most part, it was wonderful. He was nice, kind, romantic, and...funny. He...he always knew how to make me smile. He'd kiss me whenever we could. Those kisses made me soar higher than the power of flight ever could." Link started to tear up, "B-but I guess it w-was all fake. I-I loved him more than anything or anyone else. And then he-he just dumps me like this! I'd burry the Master Sword in him if I...if I didn't still care for him..." Peach rubs his back, "Oh Link, you don't deserve any of this. You're a great guy." Link sniffled and sighed, "I just wish I knew what goes on inside his head. He's beautiful and amazing. There's no one else like Pit. Not even Pittoo! Pit is everything  and I'm nothing." Peach swallowed more, "Now, now. There's no need to talk like that. There's plenty of Cheep Cheep in the Sea. What do you like to do that doesn't involve Pit?" Link thought and wiped his eyes, "I watch movies..." Peach stood up, "Then a movie we shall watch!" The princess hopped over to Link's shelf full of DVDs. "Anything in particular? Or should I choose?" Link shrugged.

"Ooh how about we watch Scott Pilgrim?" she giggled. Link nodded and ate another scoop.

After the movie started Peach sat down. Link laid his head in her lap and laid down. "What are you doing Link?" she asks with a giggle. He blushes, "Getting comfy..." She smiles and pats his head as the movie starts.

The movie ends and Peach gives him a hug goodbye before leaving him to hit the hay.

Link stands in his room. He changes into sweat pants and slips in bed. One half of the bed was deathly cold. Only now did it dawn on him that Pit was gone forever. He'd so much fun with Peach that he'd pushed the break up in the back of his head. He gripped the pillow hard, strangling it and cried into it. "What did I do wrong? I loved him! No, I love him!" He sobbed until his stomach and throat hurt, until he fell asleep.

The next morning he sat up. His head hurt from sobbing and screaming into his pillow. He lugged himself to the restroom to fix himself in the mirror.

Pit walked down the hallways to the cafeteria. He took a hot plate and looked out for a place to sit. By now the news of the break up was wide spread and everyone sided with Link. Lying to one of them was like lying to them all. Beside Marth and Ike was a free seat. Pit made his way over but Roy slid in. Everyone quickly filled the seats until all that was left was a single seat by Palutena. "Did you do it?" she asked. Pit nodded, "The hero has been dealt with." Palutena smiled and looked down at him. A single tear broke free from his hypnotized eyes. She quickly scooped it up and flicked it away, "We can't be having that now."

Suddenly the room went silent. Palutena's looks up to see a certain hero enter the room. He stands and looks around. His eyes flick to Pit then quickly go away. Princess Zelda scurries over to him and holds his arm as they join their friends at a table.

Link is pushed into a seat by Zelda. Peach scoots a plate of food before him. He stares at it and sighs, "No, I'm not hungry." Peach places her hand on his back and strokes it.

Palutena observers the hero from afar. He was the only one who could defeat her and now he didn't look like he could do much. She smiled as her grand scheme would be able to happen.
