Chapter 9

Dark Pit roamed the hall and whistles a tune. He turns the corner and sees Link sitting on the floor in front of his room with his head in his hands. "Couldn't even make it to your room to cry?" Dark Pit jokes. Link looks up at him with tearful eyes. Dark Pit pulls him up and unlocks the door with Link's key. He pushes Link in, "I don't understand why you're crying. Relationships are some stupid concept." Link offers a small nod before slowly closing his door.

Dark Pit's face starts to feel warm as he feels the hand he used to help up the hero. He was now sitting on the fountain's edge outside.

Dark Pit choose an opponent and then run to the stage!

The Dark Angel stood up and walked to the character select. Palutena called him through his laurel wreath.

"Pittoo, are you choosing an opponent?"

"Yes," he replied, "and don't call me that!"

"Fine. Can you do me a teensy favor? Fight Link, y'know the teen one."

Dark Pit raised an eyebrow but obeyed.

The two met on Peach's Castle. Link's eyes were a sad shade of blue. The trails his tears left behind were clear. He looked as if he could barely carry his own sword.

The battle begun suddenly and ended just as fast. Link barely put up a fight and just plopped onto the ground like a rag doll. Dark Pit slashed him off stage and awaited an undeserved victory.

Palutena was in the audience, proud of her work. "Link's morale is down, Pit. Time to teach all who've done me wrong to suffer and with no stupid hero in my way I can achieve that goal!" Pit sat on the chair in her dorm with more tears pouring from his blank stare eyes. "Pit your eyes are sad again. Stop that before Link sees. Show him no pity or weakness." The Angel nodded and walked out. In the hallways Link walked, holding the arm the he hurt in the Smash.

He looks so sad. I did that. I want him back, I need him back.

Shut up. You know what Palutena will do to you if you get back with him.

One kiss can't hurt. Just to let him know I'm still in love.

He'd never take you back after what you said.

Link passed his ex love in the hallway and blushed. He turned away and bit his lip.

A sudden burst of black feathers caught him off guard. A pair of red eyes bore into him. "Hey are you okay? You would never let me win this easily." asked the curious Angel. Link sighed, "I didn't feel like fighting today..." Dark Pit punched his shoulder, "Bullcrap! It's Pit isn't it? You suck at hiding feelings. But I guess all humans are."

Link's eyes flicked up, "What does Palutena have against humans?" The dark angel shrugged, "Hell if I know. I'm only, what, 3...4 years old..." Link chuckles, "But you look like Pit." Pittoo huffed, "Well age wise I am as old as he is but I mean chronologically." Link sighed, "I...gotta go." The hero left for his room.

Dark Pit ran after Pit down the hall. "Hey Pit-Stain! Link's been acting different." Pit stopped, "Why should I care what humans feel? He was stupid and a horrible boyfriend." The dark angel gasped, "What happened to you? Where's the Angel that would sneak off to play with human children and risked his life to save the humans of Greece?" Pit growled, "I'd never risk my own life to save those of some stupid humans! All they're good for is some blessings and prayers to power us!"

A hush fell over the halls. All feet stopped to look at the light Angel. Ike crossed his arms and shook his head. Villager and Mega Man looked at each other with fear. And everyone look at Pit in disappointment.

Pit stormed off into his room. Dark was left to look around at all the humans about, "H-he didn't mean that. He's had an off day." They rallied against the Angels.

"Oh that's rich. He broke Link's heart."
"The hero is in tears because an off day!?"

Dark Pit put his hands up, "Listen I have no idea what you humans see in the concept of relationships but from what I've observed I can see you take all relationships seriously, even if they aren't your own! I will try to grasp the concept but as of right now, I'm the only part of Kid Icarus that has a friendship with a human!" Ike crossed his arms, "I doubt that! You are a product of evil if I am correct? Pit's bad side." Dark Pit grits his teeth, "Pit didn't have enough evil in him to fill me so I'm technically incomplete! And I'm not lying. Actually Ike I'm friends with a Fire Emblem fighter!" Everyone gasped at the Angel's retort.

"He's not lying," a soft male voice giggled, "Pittoo's actually very nice." Dark Pit smirked at Ike as the friend came forward. Robin stepped up, "He's my friend. Don't  judge him by his teams' actions." Dark Pit shagged his hair.

Pittoo flew to Palutena's dorm and knocked. She allowed him to slip in. "Why'd you want me to fight Link earlier?" he asked, curious. Palutena place her hands around her staff, "Just to test his strength. See how he's holding up after the break up. Oh and thank you for telling me all about the secret affair." Pittoo looked down, "You're welcome."

I didn't mean to break Link like this. I just thought you had the right to know. Pit still loves him and I can feel it.

Pit had turned against all those who were not Palutena. He'd play tricks, attack and scare the children, harass the princesses, and be a general jerk. Sooner or later he'd hurt them.

Link sat at a lunch table withZelda and Peach. "Can you believe Pit flipped up my dress?!" Peach growled. Zelda looked at her hair in her compact mirror, "At least you got off easy. I'm gonna be brushing Chu Jelly from my hair for weeks!" They both looked at Link who was face down on the table.

"Can't you stop him?" asked Peach. "Can't fight. I don't have it in me anymore," replied the hero. Zelda pat his back, "A break up can be hard but you should fight against the wrong doings here." Link sat up straight, "I swore I'd never hurt him again after that time he cried. I keep my promises."

Zelda sighed, there was no changing that agreement. Link was a man of his word.

Dark Pit fluttered over to Link. "Hey, may I speak to you...in private?"
