"So how is it in the future?" Emma asked.
I giggle. "Pretty good. Your so old fashioned, get with the times."
"Trust me, if I could I would." She said. "Because that would mean I'd be closer to you."
"<3" I sent a heart, my own heart beating quicker.
Emma replied with her own heart.
I shivered and grabbed a blanket off my bed.
"So how's the weather?"
"Are we seriously having this conversation?" Emma asked.
"For real, it's freezing here. It's almost winter." I laughed.
"A whopping 45 degrees."
"Wtf. How?"
"Oh I forgot something. Fahrenheit, dumbass."
"Omg. Your the only dumbass around here."
"I think out of logic you would figure that out."
I laughed.
"What's so funny?" Emma questioned.
"Your logic, is just, perfect." I laughed.
"Rude. Hey, when's your birthday, again?"
"Stalker. It's in April. April eighth. Why?"
"Idk, just wondering."
"At least I remember yours, like a good friend. <3." I said.
"So what is it, then?"
"October twenty-ninth."
"Stfu. Your the only stalker around here."
"Your reactions are priceless!" I giggled.
"Hey, it's been a day since I've seen your ugly face. Wanna Skype?" Emma asked.
"Considering its 12 am, sure."
"Great. It's only 3 pm here. Sucks to be you, I just finished school for the day."
I stopped dming her on Instagram and called on Skype. We turned on our faces.
I turned the light beside my desk on the lowest it could go.
A fourteen-year-old girl with blonde and red ombré hair, tan skin, and freckles dotting her face appeared.
She smiled. "I've missed that potato."
"Hey!"
"No, I'm talking about myself. I haven't looked in the mirror since I got home."
"Oh. Your not a potato." I told her.
"Your right, I'm a banana."
I snorted. "Ok then."
Emma's curly hair fell around her face.
I reached up and felt my own straight hair.
I yawned. "So why do you wanna talk to me at twelve in the morning?"
"Just to keep you up, y'know?"
"Well it's working. I can't say 'no' to talking to you." I told her.
"I can." Emma snorted.
"Gee, thanks."
"No problem."
I laughed. "Alice! What are you doing! You should be sleeping!" Momma called down the hall. I instantly muted my laugh.
"Help." I whispered.
"Shush. I don't wanna get you in trouble, then I'll have no one to talk to for the rest of the day." Emma told me.
"Always thinking of me, huh?"
"You could say that. Seriously, shut up."
I could hear her walking down the hall. I closed my laptop and jumped into bed. My door opened.
"You should be sleeping."
I didn't reply.
She sighed, and closed the door.
Close call.
