"I like you.."

Eh? Frozen, my hand tightened around the strap of my bag as I gulped. Toby puts his hands inside of the pocket of his hoodie; his eyes roaming around and biting up his lower lip as if embarrassed.

"Wha..what did you just say?"

Toby sighs as well as scratching the back of his neck before turning up to look back at me. "I-I said... I like you.."

My eyes widened as a gasp has escaped my lips. I took a step back, a hand over my mouth then passing it through my hair. "To-Toby.. can you.. hear yourself?" He laughs, removing his hands from inside the pocket of his jacket then walking over near me. Toby's eyes travlled down and they stopped at my hands, with a sigh he took them in his as his eyes had found their way back up to look at my own.

"I'm not drunk."

"Huh?"

"Just in case you were thinking like that," he smirks. "Okay? I'm not drunk. I'm not confused. I'm not just saying things without thinking."

"Tob-"

"I really like you, Evette."

Tears had started to stream down my face, but I couldn't look away from him. This is not the first time that Toby has looked at me in the eyes but it sure felt like it, and I wanted him to look at me more.

"I lik-"

"Evette!"

My eyes flew open, as I turn my head to the side and saw Yojan's face near mine. "Ahh!" I squealed, pulling my blanket over me, "Wha-what are you doing here?!"

"Your alarm.." she whispers.

"What?"

"Your alarm!" She screams as she runs her hand through her messed up hair. "Turn off your alarm!" Yojan closed the curtain with a groan. I looked down to my pillow where beside it was my phone, ringing so loud as I checked for the time- 6:00 AM. Then I shut it off, groaning as it was soon muffled when I buried my face onto my pillow.

It was only a dream?

"Of course it was," I mumbled, rolling onto my back and hugging my pillow tightly on my chest. "There is no way that is ever going to happen," I added before I rolled once again to the side and faced the wall. Why did I dream about that anyway? Why did I have to dream about something like that? It's not like I'm hoping for Toby to like me or anything, I knew right from the start that he's never going to fall for someone like me..

Liar, you do wish for him to like you back. My subconscious yelled, making me close my eyes and sigh. You pray for that every night.

"Yeah.. I do," I sighed. "I do pray for it every night; Toby liking me back. But it seems like even the Gods had gone deaf, as if they are telling me that there is no point in hoping at all."

Once again I was awoken by the sound of the guitar playing, as the curious cat I am I quickly get off my bunk to see who was playing it, I even hit my head on the bunk above mine which was Yojan's.

"Connor?" I whispered and he stopped playing in instant.

"S-sorry, did I wake you? I'm really sorry-"

"No no, it's fine," I giggled then sitting right next to him. "What are you playing?"

Connor smiles back at me before looking down on his guitar and started strumming, "'Strangers'," he said.
