6 years later
"So, when are you due?" Myah asks me as a huge smile is plastered on her lips.
"Any day now" I smile back, holding my stomach in the process.
"What do you think the gender is?" She questions me, feeling the baby kick.
"Patrick thinks it's a girl, but I have a gut feeling that it's a boy. If it's a girl, we are going to name her Olivia Marie Carter, if it's a boy, we are naming him Darren James Carter" I smile at the names Patrick and I picked out together, excited to see what gender the baby is. We wanted it to be a surprise.
"I'm so happy for you guys. You two have came a long way. Went through so much together. I'm glad he stuck by" She smiles my way, flipping her hair back.
"I'm happy as well. Enough talk about me, how are you and Nathaniel?" I look at her in the eyes, knowing the answer already.
"We are on and off, same old same old. We've been doing this for such a long time now, it has been what, 6 years now?" She lets out an exasperated sigh, putting her hair into a messy bun.
"I mean, I wish he could just understand that I don't want to move in with him yet. And every time I say no, he calls it off! What dumb ass would call off a relationship all because I said no to moving in right now? Then he will call me later and beg for me back" She takes a bite of her burger, chewing it then swallowing, then speaks again. "I gotta love him for me to still handle his bullshit" She laughs at the thought, wiping her mouth with a napkin.
"You two are cute together, don't let something silly break you apart. Maybe he can move in with you?" I say, taking a bite of my salad.
"You're kidding right? My apartment is so small, I can hardly move furniture in there" She laughs, clutching her stomach.
"You two can find something to make it work, I know you can. And plus, you can always throw some of your things away. You keep everything! Literally. Last I checked, you still have the homework from senior year of high school and that was what, 5, 6 years ago?" I raise an eye brow and look at her.
She coughs awkwardly, then takes a sip of her soda. "I mean, I guess I could" She drifts off, looking out in space.
I suddenly feel liquid drizzle down my leg, my hands flying to my stomach. My eyes go wide like soccer balls, and I look Myah in the eyes.
"Myah" I take in a deep breath "I think my water just broke" Next you hear, is a mixture of..
Screaming, crying, laughing, and "MOTHER OF GOD, I'M AN AUNT!"
Every one's eyes in the restaurant is on us now, as Myah continues to freak out.
"Myah!" I yell her name, making her yelling to go in a complete halt.
"What!" I point to my stomach, then the floor. "Oh right! We need to get you to the hospital!" She throws an arm around my neck, helping me to the car. We starts the ignition and dials Patricks number.
"Patrick, hey, No. You listen to me!-- if you don't, an orange will be at your face- this is important damnit!-- Amanda's water broke- YES SHE'S FINE! Amanda, tell him you're fine!" She shoves the phone to my ear. "Baby, I'm okay, Myah is bringing me to the hospital" I tell him, calming him down.
"I'll meet you there in 15 minutes. I promise baby" He says, and I can almost tell that he is smiling through the phone.
"We are becoming parents" I say excitedly, smiling.
"Yes we are sweethea-" The phone is taken out of my hands and Myah speaks into it.
"I am not your sweetheart!- oh bring me cookies. I SAID BRING THEM DAMNIT!" Then she hangs up and we stop at the hospital, parking. Before she gets out, she looks at me as her face pales.
