It was late Saturday afternoon and I was in my apartment clearing away some of my unpacked things and just tidying up in general. I didn't really have anything better to do with my time.
The events of the day before still in my head, I put on some music, not hearing my phone buzzing on the kitchen counter. I turned in the vacuum and began vacuuming around my couch, finding any crumbs or dirt or dust. I began singing along with the music; country rap music. My mum had packed if for me so I'd have a little bit of home with me in the big city.
"Hello? R/N?" A knock at the door boomed, barely audible over my music. I switched off the machine and pushed it to the side, casually sighing and walking to the door.
I answered with a calm "What's up?" And gave a tired smile the moment I realised it was Max. He sighed and facepalmed.
"I tried calling you!" He laughed slightly, lighting punching my arm. I learned off of the door frame and opened the door a bit wider and stood up straight.
"You did? Sorry I was cleaning..." I giggled, scratching my head.
"Yeah, well your music begs to differ. What was that anyway?" He asked, crossing his arms.
"Music from home..." I yawned.
"Oh I'm sorry, am I boring you?" Max eyed me carefully.
"No no... I'm just tired..." I laughed loudly.
"Uh huh. Well when your awake, wanna come out with me and the guys later?" Max questioned, checking his watch.
"Oh am I keeping you from something? Wait... you came here..." I asked sarcastically. Max chuckled and smiled. "I'm sure I could wake myself up..." I laughed.
"Yeah, well make sure you do. Adam's expecting you and we'd like you to come- you're one of us now." Max explained. I nodded and smiled, Max waved a goodbye and I closed my door. I learned against the closed door and hugged myself, smiling widely.
"He wants me to come out!" I whispered, shaking with excitement. "Well and the others too..." I laughed, walking quickly to my bedroom. I swept through my cupboard in search of some thing decent to wear.
An hour had passed when Max texted me.
(Meet at our place at 5pm.)
It read. I smiled and texted him back.
(Okay ;) btw dress code?) I sent, I had clothes strung all over my bed. 2 charcoal suits, some t shirts, collared shirts and jeans. Cargo pants and shorts. I was questionable about the shorts considering its already getting darker outside.
(Anything comfortable) Max texted back.I strolled to the bathroom and checked the clock. It was 4pm so I had an hour to get ready. Jumping in the shower, I scrubbed myself clean, and jumped out, drying myself and spraying deodorant everywhere, nearly choking myself. I looked in the mirror and wiped the steam away. I smiled and open the cupboard, searching around for my toothbrush.
I found it within seconds and wrenched it free, along with a brand new tube of toothpaste. The minty smell entered my nostrils as I gently squeezed some onto my toothbrush and began brushing, making sure to get the back teeth. When I was done I carefully brushed and styled my hair, spiking it up like Max's a bit but not copying his style completely. I liked the way he did his hair. I wet my hair and spiked it up, brushing it to the side a bit.
I went into my bedroom and looked among my clothes. I decided upon a light blue collard shirt and some dark bluey-black jeans with some brown trainers/shoes. They looked like both so I tried the laces and looked in the mirror, smiling brightly at myself.
Final checks and I checked the time: 4.45pm. Well that took me awhile. I went into the living room and turned my music on again, making sure it was ALOT quieter this time, just enough for me to hear. I anxiously waited to leave and began tapping my knees and checking the time every single minute until it was time to go.
I left my apartment in a hurry, making sure I wouldn't be late. I knocked on their door and Ross answered, rubbing his eyes, he looked shocked upon seeing me.
"Is it 5 already? Crap!" He said, throwing the door open and running off. I gave him an uneasy look and slowly stepped into the apartment.
"Come in! I just need to change!" I heard Ross yell from what must've been his bedroom. I sighed and closed the door behind me, walking awkwardly towards the couch. I went to sit down, but stood back up and giggled to myself.
"R/N!" Max said loudly, seeming suprised.
"Hey Max!" I said eagerly, turning to him and smiling quickly. Max snickered and shook his head and continued to walk to the kitchen.
"You realise you're on time, right?" Max laughed slightly, pouring us some milk. "You like milk?" He turned to me, offering me a glass. I walked over, nodding and took the glass, my finger brushing his as I did so.
"Yeah, ofcourse I'm on time! What did you expect me to be late?" I laughed, sipping the milk.
"No, it's just Ross isn't ready even though I told him we're leaving at 5 I don't know how many times..." Max said. I giggled and sipped my milk again. Max sipped his milk as well and it left a small milk-stache on his upper lip.
"You got something on your..." It dawned on me that I could provoke another situation as at work but I rolled my eyes slightly at myself and pointed at his lip. Max laughed, getting the idea and wiping his lip with his sleeve. Max put his glass down and walked towards the hallway he'd come from.
"Just gotta get changed myself!" Max admitted, laughing as he ran towards his room. I laughed and finished my milk, putting the glass in the sink and rinsing it out.
Moments later, Ross emerged from his room dressed in a white shirt like mine, blue jeans and some black shoes. I looked him up and down, nodding in approval. Ross gave a small bow and we laughed.
"You're early." Ross said.
"I'm on time actually." I pointed out. Ross rolled his eyes and turned towards the door.
"Where's my keys?!" He moaned, searching his pockets and running towards the door and searching a bowl full of buttons and pins. "Crap..." He sighed, jogging towards his room. Seconds later Max stepped into the living room, sorting out his sleeves, smilling at me.
My eyes grew wide as I looked upon this ginger god: his hair was spiked up at the front and smooth along the rest. His beard was neatly trimmed and combed it seemd. He wore a silk black shirt and dark blue jeans. The silk looking like molten coal as he trudged towards me. He wore black shoes like Ross. I looked at him, from feet to head and back again. Max gave me an uneasy look.
"You're drooling." He giggled. I snapped back into reality and shook my head as Max walked passed me, rolling his eyes. I laughed and grabbed him, pulling him back, hugging him around his shoulders.
"Don't flatter yourself!" I laughed. Max laughed and pulled away, grabbing my hands and spinning around, playfully pushing me backwards. We continued to laugh when Ross returned, twiddling his keys around his finger.
"Ready to go?"
