"R/N...R/N..."

The voice drifted softly into my ears like a sweet melody, prying my eyes open slowly. A smile appeared over my face as I saw the ginger stallion staring back at me, his emerald orbs glistening in the midday sun. He smiled at me as I rubbed my eyes, leaning on his elbow beside me nudging me.

"I'm awake..." I uttered, clearing my throat and sitting up slowly, following Max's action. Max stood up and turned to me, stretching his aching muscles.

"I'm going to hop in the shower and get changed. You should probably head home and do the same." Max said to my disappointment, my sadness showing on my face. "Oh I'm sorry, what did you want to do then, good squire?" Max said somewhat sarcastically. His ginger beard turning blond in the rays of sunshine as he tore open the curtains.

"Oh, I don't know..." I said, a smile appearing over my face. Max looked at me and facepalmed, breathing out a long laugh.

"I knew you couldn't resist me." Max snorted, giving me a smug smile.

"Of course I can't you beast." I said, dancing towards him and wrapping my arms around his neck, Max slowly wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer.

"Mhmm..." He slowly leaned in and kissed me passionately, our tongues entwined like old vines. He tilted his head to the left to get a better position and the kiss deepened, his beard tickling my lips.

"I knew there was something going on." We heard Ross' voice say from the doorway, the sound of sipping following. The kiss broke and Max jumped back slightly, pushing me away and turning to Ross with wide eyes. I looked at Ross, who stood there drinking coffee, and a small smile broke across my face.

"Well you've caught us-"

"There's nothing going on!" Max interrupted, fear showing over his face as he looked from Ross to me. I gave Max a worried look and crossed my arms, turning away and frowning. "I mean..." Max sighed, looking at me.

Anger swept over me and I found myself stomping away like someone had just killed my dog, pushing passed Ross and spilling coffee over his shirt. I reached the door and heard Max call for me, I ignored him and wrenched open the door, slamming it behind me as I headed for my apartment.

Entering my home, I closed the door and leaned against it, anger and sorrow tumbling inside me. I found myself sitting with my arms hugging my legs as tears streamed down my face, rhythmically sobbing to the sound of knocking at my door.

"Piss off!" I shouted, failing to hide my sobs.

"R/N! Please, let me explain!" Max's voice came through like bullets to my ears now, my heart wrenching at the sadness in his voice. I struggled to my feet and limped towards my bedroom, droning out Max's music by playing some Country Rap music. The knocking ceased after a few minutes and I collapsed onto my bed, weeping into my pillow.

After about an hour I sat up, my eyes sore and raw from crying, my nose running and burning. I reached for my phone on my bedside table, where I'd left it, and unlocked it.

(Please. Let me explain!)
(I didn't mean it like that!)
(Talk to me!)
(Let me in! I want to explain.)

Messages from Max flooded my phone and I placed it down harshly. I undid my belt and stepped out of my jeans, unbuttonning my shirt as I headed for my bathroom. The water sprinkled down on to my head and refreshed me, I felt a little better.

While I dried off, the memory of Max snuggling against me flashed through my mind, making me feel dizzy from sadness. A strong headed pounded and I felt tears rising in my eyes. I blinked them away quickly, heading to my bedroom and getting dressed.

It was about 7pm by the time I heard a knock at my door. I slowly muted the tv, my expression not changing: empty. I stood up and shuffled to the door, looking through the keyhole. A solemn Max stood there, hands in his pockets, his expression sad. He wore a white t shirt and black jeans with no shoes on, just socks.

Slowly, I unlatched the door and pulled it open ajar. "R/N?" Max said, his head shooting up and his hands escaping his pockets, his expression showed shock. "You answered...".

"What do you want, Max?" I said annoyed, leaning against the door frame and nonchalantly picking my finger nails. Max sighed.

"Can I come in?" Max asked anxiously, slowly beginning to shiver.

"I don't know, maybe. Do you plan on leading me on again?" I asked sarcastically, giving Max an angered expression.

"I'm not leading you on, let me explain what I meant!" Max said sounding slightly annoyed himself, pushing himself passed me and sitting on the couch.

"Oh come on in." I rolled my eyes and slammed my door. Max looked at the floor and twiddled his thumbs.

"Are you ready to hear what I have to say or do you plan on standing there all night?" Max said sarcastically. I slowly shuffled over and sat down on the opposite end of the couch. Max seemed a tad upset by this.

"You have the floor." I said uninterested, picking my nails again.

"First of all, sorry for upsetting you. I didn't say what I meant properly earlier. I'm an idiot, and I'm sorry..." Max began, he seemed to have this all planned out. "I said what I said because of fear of Ross finding out, I don't want him to tell anyone anything because... because..." Max stuttered, rubbing his eyes, breathing an exasperated breath. I sighed loudly to gain his attention and he looked at me sadly. "I don't want him to tell anyone anything because I don't know if there is anything, if you want anything." Max finished, resting his head in his hands, the visible parts of his face becoming red like his hair.

I stopped picking my nails and lowered my hands on my knees, looking at Max with guilt. He didn't want anyone to think there was anything between us until he knew if there was anything between us. I scootched towards him on the couch and put my arm around him, pulling him into an embrace. Max opened his eyes and looked at me, his emerald orbs glowing with tears. I wiped his tears away and pulled him into a kiss. Max pushed me back slightly and I felt his arms holding me, I let him kiss me passionately and I slowly pushed him back, breaking our kiss.

"Maxie. I... I... there is something... between us. If you want there to be..." I began crying slightly.

"Of course I want there to be!" Max said, tears and laughter escaping us both. We kissed a bit more, his lips rubbing against mine, hugging eachother.

"Want to... stay over..?" I slowly asked, pushing him up. Max smiled and nodded. I stood up and he followed. "Come on..." I said quietly, grabbing his hand and leading him down the hall towards my bedroom.

"Okay..." Max said excitedly, following me.
