The setting sun blinds me as I step towards Max's car, turning to find the ginger lagging behind, hands stuffed into his pockets and his head down slightly. He had his headphones in and was hardly paying attention as he strolled over to the car, unlocking it and leaping in quickly as the brisk air clutches at the back of our necks.
"What d'you suppose is for dinner?" I ask casually, leaning my elbow on the window and tapping Max's shoulder.
"Uh..." Max seems confused as he puts his headphones into his pocket and phone on the dashboard.
"Double date. Ross and Tim's." I roll my eyes. Max freezes in his tracks, key in the ignition but not turned. His face slightly scrunches up and he finally breathes loudly, his eyes closing and his free hand slapping his face.
"I forgot..." Max sighs.
"Clearly... how could you forget? It was planned this morning!" I chuckle.
"I don't know... I have a short memory..." Max sulks.
"Well try to remember to wear something nice." I joke, my tone turning feminine.
"Okay mom." Max sighs. "I hate when you go female-like." Max adds.
"Female-like?" I mock, a smile appearing on our faces.
"Yeah." Max says more confidently, before breaking into a shared giggle.
"Well I AM the female in this relationship, Maxie. You have proved more than boyish in the bedroom if ya know what I mean." I joke seductively.
"Ooof do we have to go?" Max says, biting his lip.
"Yes now let's go!" I return to my normal tone and adjust in my seat to be facing out of the window. Max grunts, turning the key and pulling away, the pink sky looking down on us.
Arriving at the apartments I stretch upon entering the door, heading to the bedroom as Max fetched himself a glass of water. Looking through my wardrobe I found a neat black shirt and some dark blue jeans. Throwing them on the bed I glance to the mirror and see my hair is a mess.
"I'm just gonna get in the shower!" I call out to Max.
"Mind if I join you?" Max calls back.
"Later- let's just get ready first." I say seriously, closing the bathroom door and double checking the lock. Stepping out of the shower I look in the mirror, grabbing my toothbrush from the cup and squeezing some toothpaste onto it. The minty taste exploded in my mouth, sending a refreshing sensation throughout my body. I spat one last time and rinsed my mouth before brushing my hair.
I headed to the bedroom and looked at Max, half naked, smiling erotically as he headed into the bathroom to shower. I pulled on the jeans when my phone rang. Answering it, a familiar voice spoke in a happy tone.
"Is pork roast okay with you and Max?" Tim said.
"Its fine. I don't know about Max lemme ask him." I reply, putting the phone between my ear and shoulder as I picked up my shirt and began putting it in awkwardly, stepping to the bathroom door. "Is pork roast okay with you tonight Maxie?" I call in.
"Sounds great. It's you who I'd like to-" I cut Max off.
"I'm on the phooonne!" I shout.
"It's fine." He replies more quietly.
"Maxie. That's cute." Ross says down the phone. He and Tim both giggled before I heard them kiss.
"I'm gonna hang up now you two." I chuckle.
"Okay!" They call out and I cut them off, laughing to myself as I did up my bottoms. Five minutes later and Max emerged from the bathroom, his hair gorgeously combed. He smelled of amazing. I smiled at him and he winked, unwrapping his towel mockingly and slowly sidestepping into the bedroom and closing the door. I jokingly lick my lips and he laughs upon closing the door completely.
I head into the living room and switch on the tv, checking I recorded the new Game Of Thrones episode when Max appeared behind me, his arms draping over me.
"I'm ready." He whispered, kissing my cheek repeatedly. I gripped his hands and let him rock us side to side. I closed my eyes and smiled before pushing him back and turning to see him fully.
He wore a beautiful white shirt under a neatly designed blazer. Black suit bottoms and polished shoes. Smiling widely he looked down at himself and smiled proudly before holding his arms out to his side's and winking.
"Aye how do I look?" He says, still smiling.
"Like a fine gentleman. For once." I say sarcastically, taking on a professional tone and crossing my arms. Max laughs and pulls out his phone.
"C'mere!" He says, pulling me into his arms and holding his phone out high. "Say- fuckbuddy!" He jokes. I smile brightly and the flash takes me by surprise, making me laugh. The picture was adorable and I hugged Max tightly before checking my watch.
"Should we head out now?" I ask, still hugging him. He began rocking us again and the tv had some nice romantic music on, an advert I assumed.
"I kinda like it here..." Max sighed happily. I hummed and sighed before breaking the hug, holding Max's shoulders. "Yeah let's go." Max smiles, turning and grabbing my hand.
Max proudly knocks on the door, his knuckles making an echo down the corridor. It was about 8pm and Ross answered fairly quickly, dressed in a full tuxedo. Tim was spotted at the kitchen counter, putting champagne in glasses. He was also dressed in a full tuxedo.
"Come in!" Tim called out before Ross could even answer. The two seemed happier than ever. We entered, smiling at the dim lighting and romantic music playing. The plates were set out on a table for four and a small flower pot sat in the middle baring purple flowers.
"So how's married life?" I joke. Laughs all round and Tim is first to reply.
"It is so much more relaxing with coming out. I wish I'd done it years ago." Tim smiles at Ross, gripping his hand tightly. The two share an intimate smile before Ross interrupts.
"Drinks anyone?" Max smiles and takes two glasses, handing one to me.
"So this is fairly romantic." Max admits, gesturing his head at the table and radio.
"It was Ross' idea. I was up for ordering pizza but-" Ross buts in.
"Don't lie! It was your idea!" Ross laughs. Tim blushes and nods his head.
"Fine it was me. I wanted to celebrate me and Ross." Tim smiled at him.
"So you two banged?" Max asks coldly.
"Max!" I say shocked. Ross and Tim seem shocked too, glancing at eachother quickly. Tim shoots Max a seemingly unnoticed angered glance.
"Why yes, Max. We have indeed banged." Tim said. Ross' confusion points out an obvious lie and Ross just shakes his head.
"Max c'mon man..." Max hums gently and sips his wine.
"Lets all eat. I'm sure hunger has us all in a mood of sorts. I'll bring it over, go sit down everyone!" Tim bursts in quickly, stepping behind me and pushing me gently towards the table. Max sighs and follows while Ross sat down.
"Sure. Smells great." I say. Max comes in front of me and stops me, putting a hand in front of me.
"Let me." He smiles, pulling out my chair. I blush and sit down carefully, watching him sit beside me.
"Why thank you kind sir. I'll have to repay you." It was now Max's time to blush when he sipped more wine. Tim brought the food over and sat down. The food smelled amazing and we dug in, conversation jumping from all things work to all things gaming. Tonight was going to be a night to remember.
